If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.  Wood is currently seeking a Director, Business Development (BD). Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Global Mining & Minerals, this exciting leadership opportunity has overall responsibility for maintaining strategic relationships with new and existing customers and identifying business opportunities for our operations across the globe. 

The selected candidate will be a part of division's leadership team and will play an active role in developing the business strategy, future direction of the Company, and additional talent requirements to support the growth. They will also play a key role in listening to our customers' needs and developing solutions within the Company and with our partners. The selected candidate will work closely with the Operations Directors, other Business Developers, Project Managers, and Pre-Construction to develop winning strategies and to close new business.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision

  • Lead the development of Mining & Minerals Business Line strategy & vision aligned with Wood's company strategy. Drive the implementation of actionable plans.
  • Ensure that strategy decisions are based on robust market, customer and competitor data
  • Ensure staff engagement in Business Line (BL) strategy and vision

Business Development

  • Act as "go to" person for BL Leader for specific market/sector. Play an active role in the relevant Leadership Team.
  • Drive the development and expansion of relationships with key customers
  • Drive development of new customer propositions across market
  • Identify, manage and develop business partnering opportunities
  • Act as Account Manager or Project Sponsor as required for strategic accounts
  • Ensure best business winning strategies are deployed for key pursuits and that lessons learned from pursuits are deployed globally within and across BLs
  • Provide oversight of BD performance and business-winning activities across BL or sector
  • Lead the pursuit of specific priority opportunities that are identified as key pursuits either for size/scale reasons, global accounts or where they significantly underpin strategy implementation
  • Oversee overall BD activities across BL or sector

Oversight & Risk

  • Act as the voice of the customer for assigned key accounts, intervening as necessary to ensure successful delivery and issue resolution

People

  • Determine future resource and capability requirements to deliver the strategy
  • Have oversight of and carry out or input to the identification, attraction, retention, development and effective performance management of the right BD organisation and resources across the global BL or sector
  • Identify Top talent and manage succession planning with in the team
  • Be the voice for change and implementation of best practice

Governance, Policies, & Procedures

  • Role model desired culture, values, and new behaviours (e.g. compliance)
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant BL and Wood governance policies
Skills / Qualifications
  • Academic qualification in Business and/or Engineering
  • BD / KAM at senior level for > 5 years
  • Experience in multiple geographies
  • Sound industry/technical knowledge
  • Very strong commercial understanding and acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven business development and management skills
