Job description

Some of what you will do:

The Business Development Executive II (BDEII) is responsible for prospecting and closing net-new Large Market accounts delivering $750k-$1MM in revenue annually. The BDE serves as the primary contact for prospect decision-makers and will lead the sales process in prospecting, converting and implementing customer partnerships. The BDE works closely with the Account Management Team, Pricing Teams, Integration Team, Sales Leadership and other company resources to successfully prospect and ultimately onboard customers to Staples.

Specifically, You Will:

Prospecting, Lead Generation, Planning, Presentation, Proposal & Strategy Development: 25%

  • Uses all available tools and resources to identify target accounts in market

  • Engages internally on lead management, drives prospecting activity, actively leads Staples RFP responses to large market business opportunities.

  • Works directly with customers and maintains an active understanding of customer market testing expectations

Customer Engagement: 50%

  • Executes business development sales strategies to move targeted prospects to active opportunities while positioning Staples as the preferred solution for decision makers and influencers of target accounts.

  • Actively meets with customers at all stages of the funnel, provides insights into industry trending, develop an in depth understanding of the customer buying process

Administration: 25%

  • Maintains customer meeting notes, meetings, contacts and all planned next actions and activity in CRM tool.

  • Engages with all aspects of the business to develop leads + manage funnel effectively.

  • Provides updates internally on prospecting activity, solicits for support

  • Gather market knowledge, utilize this to guide unique value-based solutions to customers as well as ensuring competitive insights are socialized internally.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work is in the field, in office and/or remote.

  • This role involves limited travel through Canada and the USA.

  • Experience and proven track record of successful business development strategies and results

  • Strong abilities to develop and deliver presentations virtually, as well as in person to diverse audiences

  • Ability to work effectively with product category selling team members

  • Ability to work cross functionally, with all internal departments

  • Strong business, financial, operations and technological acumen

  • Ability to function independently with minimal daily supervision

  • Ability and motivation to find, develop and close sales

  • Proven ability to view rejection as a learning opportunity

  • 3+ years successful hunting experience in the large / enterprise market preferred

  • Knowledge of CRM tools

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
