Job description

About the Role

This position will work with our clients and bridge team leader to design and detail plans on a variety of projects on Local State and County highways including bridge rehabilitation/replacements and culvert projects. There will be opportunities to engage projects at all stages of design and construction including feasibility and preliminary design where input on design decisions will be valuable, structural design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, permitting, bidding, and construction administration. Key Responsibilities

  • Apply broad knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria to solve technical issues.
  • Design complete projects, systems, components or processes.
  • Prepare basic and advanced engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure project success.
  • Provide advanced judgement and analysis techniques to prepare complete project documents including design reports and final plan sets.
  • Analyze and interpret data, formulate and solve problems.
  • Interpret and follow scopes of work, budgets, and schedules, completing projects within budget and on time.
  • Assist with proposal development for professional services.
  • Perform field investigations/site visits as needed and prepare reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience (with at least 2 in direct bridge design tasks), preferably with EIT (PE is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge and experience in local and state bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects, culvert projects, and NYSDOT Specifications/ details
  • Microstation/Open Roads Designer experience is a must
  • Knowledge of bridge design software a plus.
  • Good technical writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge in plan, specification and estimate preparation
  • Self-motivated, organized, and open to learning new and innovative design procedures and methods
