The ideal candidate will bring significant hands-on experience with highway bridge design, project delivery, engineering standards, and quality assurance/quality control. This role will primarily focus on reviewing bridge-related deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and project requirements. The position may also provide technical expertise and support on bridge design, project pursuits, and other transportation-related initiatives as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform independent quality control reviews of bridge design plans, calculations, specifications, reports, and other technical deliverables.
  • Review bridge engineering work for technical accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and review throughout the project lifecycle, from preliminary concepts and layouts through final design.
  • Review structural analysis, bridge superstructure and substructure design, details, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify potential design issues, inconsistencies, and coordination concerns and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Support project teams with bridge engineering expertise and constructability considerations.
  • Assist with quality assurance and quality control procedures for bridge and transportation projects.
  • Provide technical input for proposals, statements of qualifications, and other business development efforts when requested.
  • Support the development and enhancement of the firm's bridge engineering capabilities and project portfolio.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technical professionals across disciplines.
  • Maintain familiarity with applicable federal, state, and industry standards, specifications, and design practices.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to less-experienced engineers when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of quality control and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to work independently and provide sound technical judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of bridge engineering experience.
  • Experience with state Department of Transportation projects and procedures.
  • Experience with both traditional design-bid-build and alternative project delivery methods, including design-build and CMGC.
  • Experience serving as a bridge design lead, technical lead, project manager, or quality control reviewer.
