Job description

  • Job Type: Full-time, long-term contractor
  • Workplace: Hybrid
  • Schedule: Full-time, office hours

HireHawk connects skilled professionals with meaningful remote career opportunities at U.S. and Canadian companies across a wide range of industries. We believe strong talent is global, and we help candidates build stable remote careers with clear expectations, dedicated support, and high-quality client partnerships.

Our client is building more than beauty products. They are building a brand that people genuinely love.

As Director of Brand Marketing, you will own how the brand comes to life across product launches, campaigns, PR, influencer marketing, partnerships, retail, and customer storytelling. You will report directly to the founders and work closely with Creative, Product, Ecommerce, Growth, Retail, Social, and Community leaders.

This is not a role focused on maintaining a marketing calendar. You will help determine what the brand becomes over the next decade, with meaningful ownership over strategy, significant founder visibility, and the opportunity to build new capabilities as the business expands.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the long-term brand strategy across digital, ecommerce, retail, social, experiential, and community channels
  • Own every product launch from positioning and messaging through integrated execution, performance analysis, and post-launch learning
  • Create campaigns and brand stories that increase awareness, strengthen customer loyalty, and translate cultural relevance into commercial growth
  • Build and lead the media strategy, including editorial relationships, product placement, earned coverage, and high-value PR opportunities
  • Develop meaningful relationships with influencers, creators, celebrities, tastemakers, and brand ambassadors who authentically extend the brand's reach
  • Identify and deliver collaborations and partnerships that introduce the brand to new audiences and support customer acquisition
  • Partner with Creative to produce distinctive campaign concepts, visual storytelling, photography, video, and content that customers remember
  • Align brand-building initiatives with Ecommerce and Growth Marketing so awareness, acquisition, conversion, and retention efforts reinforce one another
  • Manage PR, influencer, creative, production, and other agency partners against clear objectives, timelines, budgets, and performance expectations
  • Establish the reporting, planning, and operating processes needed to measure brand awareness, engagement, earned media, launch success, acquisition, and retention

Requirements

Must-Have:

  • 8 or more years of experience in brand marketing, integrated marketing, consumer marketing, brand strategy, or marketing communications
  • A track record of leading high-impact product launches and integrated campaigns that increased both brand attention and commercial performance
  • Experience building consumer brands in beauty, cosmetics, skincare, wellness, luxury, lifestyle, or premium direct-to-consumer categories
  • Strong working knowledge of brand positioning, customer insights, creative development, PR, influencer marketing, and the customer journey
  • Experience managing PR, influencer, creative, production, or other external agency partners
  • The ability to lead across Creative, Product, Ecommerce, Growth, Retail, Social, and Community teams without losing strategic clarity
  • Based in the Los Angeles area and able to work in person several days each week

Nice to Have:

  • Omnichannel experience across direct-to-consumer ecommerce, TikTok, Amazon, and national retail
  • Experience supporting retail growth through partners such as Ulta, Sephora, or Target
  • Established relationships with beauty editors, media outlets, creators, celebrities, or industry tastemakers
  • Experience leading a brand function with budget ownership or close responsibility for revenue and profitability
  • Strong instincts for beauty, culture, consumer behavior, and the ideas that make people genuinely care about a brand

Benefits

  • We value culture as much as results, we want a leader who inspires the team, not just directs it.
  • We're a high-energy, creative team that pushes each other to be the best version of ourselves every day.
  • Like our products, we're ambitious, overachieving, and always juggling more than one thing at once.
  • Competitive compensation and the opportunity to significantly influence the future of the brand
  • Direct access to the founders and real ownership over brand strategy - your fingerprints will be on everything customers see
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Generous medical benefits
