SUMMARY

The Director of Social Content is responsible for leading the planning and execution of social content strategy across Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) properties, including the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, and Noblesville Boom. This role requires strong basketball knowledge and a deep understanding of how content performs across social platforms to drive fan engagement and growth.

This role calls for a highly creative and strategic thinker with a strong grasp of brand voice, platform trends, and audience behavior. The ideal candidate is passionate about social storytelling and knows how to create content that resonates with fans across both sports and entertainment. Strong organizational skills, collaboration, and clear communication are essential to success.

Because this role works across multiple properties, an understanding of both basketball and the broader entertainment landscape is critical. The Director should be well-versed in developing content across formats, platforms, and cadences, and will be supported by a creative team of digital video producers, social media managers, graphic designers, and digital marketers.

This role will travel as needed to support social coverage, including select Pacers and Fever games, NBA/WNBA events, and key organizational initiatives. The role partners closely with Brand Marketing, Game Operations, Corporate Partnerships, Basketball Operations, Community Engagement, and Ticketing to bring integrated content strategies to life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and communicate a clear vision for the social content team.
  • Oversee creation of high-quality, engaging content across all platforms.
  • Set platform-specific goals for growth, engagement and views.
  • Lead long-term content planning around seasons, tentpoles & campaign launches.
  • Serve as a key liaison across Digital Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, Community Engagement, Brand Marketing, Broadcast, Game Operations, PR, Player Relations, and other relevant internal departments.
  • Manage relationships with external partners and agencies.
  • Bring unique, creative ideas to the table, while maintaining brand consistency and supporting brand strategy throughout all content and executions.
  • Lead all social game night duties, including reviewing and approving content prior to posting.
  • Lead, develop, and manage full-time social content staff, as well as part-time social and design staff.
  • Own performance tracking and optimization, using data and insights to inform strategy and improve results.
  • Share performance insights and key content wins across the organization.
  • Identify emerging trends and translate them into effective, on-brand content opportunities.
  • Develop fan acquisition concepts to grow social following and subscriber databases.
  • Work across brands, including NBA, WNBA and G League.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include nights, weekends, travel, and holidays.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and 7+ years of professional experience in social media, digital content, or sports/entertainment marketing.
  • Industry experience at the professional sport or collegiate athletics level highly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading and developing social content and creative teams.
  • Strong knowledge working with Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, audience behavior, and how content performs across channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, and emerging platforms.
  • Ability to multitask with a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • An understanding of the game of basketball and a knowledge of the NBA/WNBA/G League.
