Sales Engineer - AI Hardware & Data

TCLAD INC

Prescott, WI

Full-time

Re-posted 14 days ago

Job description

About Us: TCLAD is a leading provider of high-reliability Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) specializing in innovative thermal management solutions for high power applications. We are at the forefront of designing and manufacturing high performance thermally conductive PCBs, Thermal Interface Materials, Components and Liquids with industry leading advanced performance materials. Our expertise in advanced thermal materials and proprietary manufacturing processes enables our customers to push the boundaries of performance and reliability in their electronic systems. We are seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to join our dynamic team and expand our footprint within this critical market.
Job Summary: The Sales Engineer will be a key driver of our growth strategy. This individual will be responsible for identifying and capturing new business opportunities within the hardware applications, with a specific focus on AI Hardware and Data Center applications requiring sophisticated thermal management solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the procurement lifecycle for physical hardware components, a strong network of contacts within the AI hardware and data center supply chain, and the technical aptitude to effectively communicate the value of our specialized thermal PCB and other solutions.
Critical Candidate Requirement: This role requires a candidate with a direct, verifiable track record of selling physical hardware/components into the AI hardware and data center ecosystem — power electronics, thermal management, PCBs, connectors, power supplies, or comparable electromechanical components — to OEMs, ODMs, and tier-one/two suppliers. This is NOT a software, SaaS, IT infrastructure, cloud services, or inside sales role. Candidates whose experience is limited to software sales, IT solutions selling, or inside/telesales support without direct field-based hardware component sales into this market will not meet the bar for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Duties:
    • This role identifies and works with customers to design in solutions that create measurable customer and operational value using technical knowledge of product offerings and applications to support and build sales, with key focus areas including power supplies, AI Hardware and Data Centers.
    • Meet or exceed key metrics for revenue growth, operating profit, and market share in regional target sectors – across the whole product range.
    • Generate unique value for key target companies and OEM's.
    • Initiate, maintain and grow influential client relationships with key accounts and ensure effective and constant lead generation in liaison with customers.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Strategic Business Development: Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with OEM customers and tier-one and two suppliers.
    • Researches and presents reports showing potential customers the cost benefit of purchasing company products or services.
    • Market Penetration: Develop and execute a comprehensive market strategy to increase penetration of TCLAD's thermal PCB solutions in key programs.
    • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering leads, program managers, and procurement officers.
    • Technical Sales: Effectively articulate the technical advantages and value proposition of our thermal management solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. Provides technical training to clients and communicates customer feedback for future product developments.
    • Pipeline Management: Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation to contract award, maintaining an accurate and robust sales pipeline in our CRM system.
    • Proposal Development: Lead and contribute to the development of compelling proposals, bids, and responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in electronics and thermal management.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our internal engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
    • Industry Representation: Represent TCLAD at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to enhance our brand visibility and generate new leads.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of successful business development or technical sales experience selling physical hardware, components, or engineered materials directly within the AI hardware and Datacenter markets — not software, SaaS, IT services, or inside sales — with a proven track record of increasing sales.
  • Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated, verifiable experience selling electronic components, preferably PCBs, power electronics, or related thermal management products, directly to engineering and procurement teams at hardware manufacturers.
  • Technical Acumen: A strong understanding of electronics, thermal management principles, and the challenges of designing for high-reliability applications. An engineering background is highly desirable.
  • Network: An established, active network of contacts within major AI hardware/data center customers and their supply chains, built through direct field sales engagement.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify market opportunities, and develop and execute successful business plans.
  • Self-Motivation: A proactive, results-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team, with a field-sales orientation.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred), Business, or a related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.
  • Travel: Up to 50% to travel as needed to meet with customers and attend industry events.
Candidate Profile — What We Are Looking For (and Not):
This position is a hunter-style, field-based technical sales role. We are looking for someone who has personally sat across the table from hardware engineering and procurement teams and closed hardware/component business into the AI infrastructure and data center supply chain.
  • Right fit: Field sales, business development, or technical sales professionals with a direct book of relationships at power electronics, ODM, or cooling-ecosystem companies.
  • Right fit: Candidates who have carried a component or hardware quota and can speak to specific design wins, program engagements, or supplier qualifications they personally drove.
  • Not a fit: Software, SaaS, cloud, or IT solutions sales professionals, even if their accounts overlap with data center or AI companies.
  • Not a fit: Inside sales, telesales, or customer-success professionals without a track record of direct, outbound, field-based hardware sales.
Personal Attributes:
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
Safety Roles and Responsibilities:
All TCLAD employees are empowered to stop production if someone is in danger and notify their supervisor if an unsafe act or product quality concern is occurring. Also, each member of the TCLAD team is responsible for identifying continuous improvement and pollution prevention opportunities and participating in problem solving teams as necessary.
Associates are faced with many decisions every day. How associates respond is based on an understanding of what is expected of them. Setting expectations should be done at time of hire with regular and frequent reminders during the associate's tenure. Listed below are some of the items that can be used to help set safety performance expectations:
  • Following all rules
  • Communicating with direct supervisor and/or safety coordinator/team regarding potential injury exposures or ideas for reducing injury exposures.
  • Understanding that they have a responsibility to act safely.
  • Report injury symptoms early to prevent them from becoming more severe.
  • Understand when and how to use personal protective equipment and follow use guidelines.
  • Participate in facility safety teams (5-S, JSA, BBS, Ergonomics, Incident Investigation, etc.)
  • Know and understand the SHE requirement of the jobs you perform
  • Report to work fit for duty without impairment from drugs, medications, or other influences.
  • Maintain a proper level of safety awareness to do your job without causing injury to yourself or your co-workers
  • Ensure that you are always engaging in proper work practices and behavior
  • Actively participate in TCLAD's safety programs and as required, in a risk assessment of your job
  • Continually review your work environment for hazards which could lead to an injury or incident, and properly initiate corrective action
  • Immediately correct improper SHE practices being performed by co-workers, contractors, and visitors
  • Always maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Promptly report all injuries, suspected injuries, and SHE incidents to a supervisor
  • Immediately notify your supervisor if the resources or authority required to correct any known, SHE deficiency is not available to you
  • Create an environment of openness, trust, and mutual respect, permitting every employee to excel in SHE performance
