Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the National Director is the management, performance, and coaching of a team of MSL direct reports in the psychiatry therapeutic area of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and depression. The MSLs primary focus includes psychiatry healthcare practitioners and key opinion leaders. The National Director ensures compliant execution of field medical plans, strategy, and activities within Medical Affairs, as aligned with goals and objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provides oversight of a team of MSLs throughout the entire US.
  • Partners with the Medical Director and Sr Director to develop field medical strategies and tactics.
  • Ensures and maintains flawless execution of the field Medical Affairs strategy.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory, legal, and operational rules and procedures of their team.
  • Involved in the hiring, training, performance coaching, and overseeing the work of a team of MSL direct reports. Maintains the highest level of proficiency in the MSL function.
  • Maintains clinical knowledge of designated therapeutic area(s) of ADHD, depression, general psychiatry and broad market knowledge.
  • Provides leadership and serves as primary point of contact for operational/executional requests and solutions.
  • Conducts and/or assists MSLs in conducting formal presentations to appropriate groups.
  • Participates and contributes in cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, marketing, managed care, RWE/HEOR, clinical development) regarding field-based activities, medical insights, competitor activity gathering, data analysis, and evaluation of new and innovative initiatives.
  • Works with other MSL Field Directors regarding standardization and consistency of the MSL role.
  • Identifies opportunities for cross-functional integration of MSL roles and activities at the field level.
  • Other responsibilities and projects assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and management in an effective manner consistent with Company Values towards defined Corporate Objectives.
  • Understands Company Policy and procedure to be able to guide direct reports appropriately.

Knowledge & Other Qualifications:
  • Strong science/clinical background with advanced degree in a scientific field of study (PharmD, MD, PhD, or advanced/Master's nursing degree) with a minimum of seven years of experience required.
  • Previous leadership experience managing a team of MSLs (e.g., MSL Field Director, Regional MSL Director, National MSL Director, or equivalent) and proven history of success required.
  • Experience developing and executing Key Opinion Leader territory plans, medical plans, and other field medical strategies.
  • Multi-dimensional abilities to work on simultaneous tasks and work cross-functionally at various levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills, good personal initiative, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Self-directed, intrinsically motivated, flexible in changes in the organization and able to excel with minimal direction in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific and medical information and data.
  • Ability to comfortably converse with key academic opinion leaders regarding highly technical information.
  • Ability to manage a demanding travel schedule and be flexible.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting produce value proposition and pharmacoeconomic data to managed care customers is a plus.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:
  • Travel Required: Up to 90% Travel.
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or carrying objects.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen, iPad, or other electronic device; and extensive reading.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Compensation:
At Supernus, we offer a competitive compensation package that reflects your experiences and contributions. The expected salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role is $200,000 to $252,000. This range is what the Company reasonably expects to offer for the position and is not reflective of the full compensation scale of the role. This range may be modified in the future. An individual's salary within the range is based on multiple factors, which may include and are not limited to education, relevant experience, knowledge, length of industry experience and organizational needs.
You also will be able to participate in a competitive benefits package, including but not limited to: health, dental, vision, paid time off, 401k company match, company paid life insurance and health and wellness benefits. The total compensation package for this position also includes other compensation elements such as stock equity awards, employee stock purchase programs and participation in our Company's discretionary annual bonus program.
