Under the direction of the Supervisor of Corporate Services, ACTS as lead to Mail Room, Distribution and Truck Drivers.
Essential Functions:

  • ACTS as lead and directs the work of Mail Room clerks, Distribution associates and Truck Drivers.

  • ACTS as a back up to Truck Drivers as needed. OPERATES vehicles no more than 20,000 pounds to transport cargo to and from specified destinations.

  • PREPARES goods for shipment. RECORDS shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability. RECEIVES and UNPACKS materials and supplies. REPORTS damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement and record-keeping purposes. COMPLETES shipping and receiving reports.

  • IDENTIFIES supply and delivery locations and PROCESSES the freight. DELIVERS the supplies to the destination.

  • GENERATES and AFFIXES UPS, Certified Mail and FEDEX labels to packages. WEIGHS all packages and APPLIES appropriate postage.

  • INPUTS recipient data into UPS address book. KEEPS record of all shipments and DISTRIBUTES reports as necessary.

  • PREPARES Staff Counsel letters or training manuals for shipping.

  • PERFORMS functions of Classification Clerk or Receiving Clerk in their absence.

  • ASSISTS the Pool Car Custodian with transporting of fleet vehicles to repair shops as needed.

  • ADHERES to the Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.

  • MEETS attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with subordinates and management.


Qualifications:

  • With or without accommodation perform the essential functions as described above, which may include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing, speaking, bending, reaching and standing.

  • The work requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Materials, equipment, etc. will be lifted to and from trucks, equipment, warehouse shelves and the ground.

  • Work activities involve combinations of walking, kneeling, climbing, pulling, bending, lifting, carrying and standing for extended periods.

  • The work requires the ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet and structures and lifts up to 45 feet; to climb on, off and around trucks, scaffolds and other equipment.

  • The work requires the ability to operate tools, equipment, vehicles and machinery.

  • The work requires the ability to work in limited light; and to differentiate colors.

  • The work requires the ability to answer questions and communicate with coworkers, customers and others in person, via email, telephones and mobile radios.

  • The work requires the ability to see and hear in order to detect problems and ensure the safety of associates and others.

  • The work requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Materials, equipment, etc. will be lifted to and from trucks, equipment, warehouse shelves and the ground.


Equipment and Vehicles:

  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record according to company policy and a valid state driver's license.

  • The job may require driving and operating vehicles such as an automobile, pickup truck, van, ATV, aerial man-lift and forklift. The forklift and man-lift operation require prior certification.

  • The job requires the operation of test equipment for meters and may require fault location and other electrical equipment.

  • The job requires the use of computers and calculators.

  • Future work practices may necessitate the use of different equipment, vehicles and tools.

Location: Fredericksburg, VA; This position is an in-office position

Shift/Hours: This is an overnight shift from 6:30PM - 7:30AM. It is 3 days, for example: Wednesday - Friday for 6 weeks, then it rotates to Sunday - Tuesday for 6 weeks
