Position Overviewย 

The Director of Housekeeping leads and manages all aspects of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety, and guest satisfaction throughout theย hotel. This roleย is responsible forย departmental leadership, financial performance, staff development, inventory control, and compliance with brand and company standards in a full-service hotel environment.ย 


What You'll Doย 

Leadership & Department Managementย 

  • Oversee the daily operations of theย housekeeping and laundryย teams, ensuring rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet or exceed brand cleanliness standards.ย 
  • Lead, train, mentor, and develop Assistant Directors, Housekeeping Supervisors, Room Attendants, Housepersons, Laundry Attendants, and other team members.ย 
  • Create staffing schedules that align with occupancy forecasts and labor productivity goals.ย 
  • Conduct regular inspections of guestrooms and public areas to ensure consistent quality.ย 

Guest Experience & Service Deliveryย 

  • Drive guest satisfaction by ensuring exceptional cleanliness and timely room availability.ย 
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, service recovery situations, and special requests.ย 
  • Coordinate VIP room preparations and ensure all amenities are placed according to brand and hotel standards.ย 
  • Collaborate with Front Office to meet check-in timelines and manage high-demand periods.ย 

Financial Oversight & Cost Controlย 

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets including labor, supplies, linen, uniforms, and equipment.ย 
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-control measures without compromising quality.ย 
  • Oversee linen and terry inventory, par levels, procurement, and long-term asset care.ย 
  • Maintain accurate records for vendor contracts, expenses, and usage.ย 

Training, Safety & Complianceย 

  • Ensure all housekeeping team members receive proper training in safety, cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and equipment usage.ย 
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, brand standards, and local health and safety requirements.ย 
  • Oversee implementation of safety initiatives including ergonomic programs, personal protective equipment, and emergency procedures.ย 
  • Ensure uniform and grooming standards are consistently met.ย 

Operational Efficiency & Process Improvementย 

  • Develop, update, and enforce standard operating procedures for all housekeeping and laundry tasks.ย 
  • Implement systems and technologies to enhance productivity and communication (e.g., housekeeping apps, dispatch systems, inventory tools).ย 
  • Evaluate workflow and improve processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.ย 
  • Support capital project planning relating to soft goods, equipment, and facility upgrades.ย 

Interdepartmental Collaborationย 

  • Work closely with Engineering on maintenance needs, room readiness, and preventive maintenance programs.ย 
  • Collaborate with Food & Beverage, Events, and Front Office on hotel-wide initiatives and operational requirements.ย 
  • Participate in Executive Committee meetings and support hotel leadership goals.ย 

Additional Responsibilitiesย 

  • Oversee Lost & Found processes and ensure compliance with guest property handling policies.ย 
  • Support pre-opening, renovation, and transition projects as needed.ย 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations.ย 
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role.ย 


What You'll Bringย 

Required Education & Experienceย 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.ย 

Preferred Education & Experienceย 

  • Prior housekeeping leadership experience preferred.ย 
  • Experience in a full-service hotel, resort, or multi-outlet hospitality environment preferred.ย 
  • Experience managing large housekeeping teams and high-volume operations preferred.ย 
  • Knowledge of laundry operations and housekeeping technologies preferred.ย 
  • Hospitality coursework or related training preferred.ย
