Job description

Director of Financial Aid Role


Dwight-Englewood School, the largest independent school in Bergen County, NJ, and a growing, vibrant, and diverse learning community in the New York City metro area, is seeking to fill a full-time Director of Financial Aid Role starting July 1, 2026.

With soaring tuition in a hyper-competitive market, financial aid is an essential tool for achieving full enrollment. A Director of Financial Aid would be a strategic enrollment leader at D-E, overseeing financial aid administration to attract and retain great families. They would work closely with the CFO and Director of Enrollment to achieve enrollment and revenue goals. In addition to leading our financial aid process, policies, and communications, the Director of Financial Aid is a key recruiter and data specialist who will analyze enrollment and demographic trends, conduct interviews, lead tours, and represent D-E to internal and external communities.


Responsibilities of the Director of Financial Aid could include:

Administrative

  • Implement D-Eโ€™s financial aid philosophy, strategy, and procedures, as developed and refined in partnership with the leadership team.

  • Chair the Financial Aid Committee, overseeing the review, analysis and awarding of financial aid for new and returning students, in partnership with CFO and alignment with the schoolโ€™s financial aid budget.

  • Oversee financial aid for non-tuition expenses, including transportation, trips, technology and books.

  • Serve as liaison between family and school (business office and enrollment office)

  • Coordinate transportation and other contracts

  • Preferred: tax assessment ability

Communications

  • Articulate the philosophy and processes of D-Eโ€™s financial assistance program clearly and powerfully to current and prospective families.

  • Serve as an affordability and affordability advocate, representing D-E at in-person and virtual admission events, including fairs, outreach visits, presentations and marketing opportunities.

  • Serve as the affordability point person, case-managing complex family financial profiles for current and prospective families, and supporting D-Eโ€™s retention initiatives

  • Help design and lead financial aid workshops for current and prospective families.

  • Work with enrollment and communications offices to help craft communications about institutional affordability.

Information Management

  • Collect, manage, and appropriately share aggregate financial aid data in a way that supports strategic decision-making.

  • Partner with the Director of Enrollment to research and analyze enrollment, demographic, and financial trends and inform financial aid and recruitment strategies.

  • Model financial aid scenarios to optimize predict the impact on enrollment and optimize tuition revenue.

Admissions

  • Support recruitment efforts for prospective families across divisions

  • Conduct tours and admissions interviews across all three divisions.

  • Integrate financial aid insights into admissions committee review of applicants to ensure a diverse, sustainable cohort

  • Participate in and support enrollment office events.

Professional Learning

  • Maintain awareness of financial assistance and enrollment trends through professional development and professional networks

Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree required (Masterโ€™s preferred)

  • At least five years experience in admissions with three years focused on financial aid

  • Personal and professional alignment to the schoolโ€™s mission, vision, and values

  • Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and anti-bias education in all aspects of the work with students, families, and colleagues

  • Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills


Terms of Employment

  • This is a 12 month administrative position.

  • Professional days are considered work days and participation in planned activities is mandatory.

  • Standard working hours are 8 am to 4 pm with attendance at weekly division/department meetings required. Occasional night and weekend responsibilities to support the school are also required.

  • The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000 depending on experience.
