Job description

Position Summary:

The Marina Operations Supervisor supports daily operations, maintenance, and safety of the Dillon Marina in coordination with the Operations Managers. This position combines hands‑on technical work with team supervision and high‑level customer service for marina slip holders and visitors. The supervisor helps oversee dock systems, utilities, equipment, seasonal transitions, and staff training while maintaining a strong knowledge of marina services, software, and boating operations. The role requires an adaptable, safety‑minded leader who can communicate effectively, solve problems, support departmental goals, and represent the marina with professionalism.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair docks, slips, gangways, anchors, mooring systems, and marina infrastructure
  • Monitor environmental and seasonal conditions including freeze/thaw cycles and lake level changes
  • Coordinate seasonal dock installation, removal, winterization, and commissioning activities
  • Maintain inspection logs, maintenance records, utility system documentation, and safety reports
  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical pedestals, water lines, lighting systems, pump‑out systems, and basic plumbing
  • Enforce marina safety rules, conduct routine dock safety inspections, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Supervise seasonal and year‑round staff; assign tasks, train employees, and provide hands‑on support
  • Oversee contractor work for repairs and specialized projects; ensure quality and timely completion
  • Assist with work order processing, point‑of‑sale activities, slip‑holder support, and customer service
  • Maintain parts inventory, evaluate suppliers, and ensure adequate stock for maintenance and customer needs
  • Support marina events, opening and closing procedures, and coordination across departments
  • Maintain and repair marina boats, docks, tools, vehicles, and equipment; perform preventative maintenance
  • Complete service work orders, billing, and documentation of boat repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Operate marina vehicles, tractors, trailers, loaders, skid steers, and hand/power tools safely
  • Obtain and maintain aquatic nuisance species certification
  • Assist in evidence/property transport, paperwork, or administrative processes as directed
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform assigned duties safely and efficiently
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support marina operations

    Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or trade education preferred
  • Minimum age 21
  • Exceptional customer service skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Previous supervisory experience required; management experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; FareHarbor and Scribble Software preferred
  • Professional interaction skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Knowledge of boating, marina operations, sailboat rigging, boatyard procedures, and marine maintenance preferred
  • Strong swimming ability and comfort working on docks over water and at heights
  • Ability to safely operate trailers, tractors, trucks, front‑end loaders, skid steers, and power/hand tools
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, 12‑volt electrical systems, fiberglass/wood repair, and marine painting preferred
  • CPR/AED certification required or must be obtained
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, bend, climb, and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Experience with customer service, point‑of‑sale systems, or cash handling preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Previous marina operations or boating experience strongly preferred
