Job description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Freight Dispatcher to coordinate and manage daily transportation operations. This role is responsible for scheduling drivers, optimizing routes, ensuring on-time deliveries, and maintaining clear communication with drivers and customers to support efficient and profitable operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers, equipment, and loads in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor driver routes and ensure on-time pickups and deliveries
  • Communicate with drivers regarding routes, delays, and customer instructions
  • Track shipments and provide real-time updates to customers and internal teams
  • Maintain accurate records of loads, mileage, and delivery status
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards
  • Resolve delivery issues, delays, or service disruptions quickly and professionally
  • Coordinate with brokers, customers, and warehouse personnel
  • Optimize routes to reduce costs and improve efficiency

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no employee supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty according to the requirements of NOW Courier. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and two years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in the logistics and distribution industry is desired.
Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience in dispatching (trucking or logistics preferred).
  • Proficiency with dispatch/tracking software and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and hours-of-service requirements is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Resourceful and creative.
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to adhere to time and attendance policies.
  • Must exhibit professionalism and be effective working with customers and drivers.
  • Proficient with commonly used office software, including but not limited to: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, as well as telephone and internet communications.

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. While the offices of company are open from 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday, this job will require work beyond these hours which may include weekends and holidays.
