The Impact You'll Make in this Role

At 3M's Consumer Business Group (CBG), we are driving a bold digital transformation that connects AI, data, and technology to reimagine how consumers engage with our brands and how we drive measurable growth across retail and eCommerce.

As the Sr. Director, CBG Digital, you will serve as the senior-most digital transformation executive for the business group. You will design, build, and scale next-generation AI, Data, and Digital capabilities that elevate CBG's brands and unlock enterprise value. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading CBG's digital, AI, and data strategy end-to-end, acting as the business group's "area CTO/CPO" and overseeing architecture, platforms, and enterprise alignment.
  • Architecting and scaling AI, GenAI, data science, and data platform capabilities that drive measurable commercial, eCommerce, and operational growth.
  • Owning and evolving CBG's digital capability map and composable roadmap, aligning Marketing, Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, and technical teams around prioritized business outcomes.
  • Accelerating eCommerce and digital marketing performance through data integration, GPIM excellence, martech optimization, and high-quality retail.com execution.
  • Ensuring robust, modern delivery through Agile, DevOps, MLOps, FinOps, and disciplined operational oversight.
  • Strengthening interoperability, cybersecurity, and governance by partnering closely with enterprise IT and core platform teams.
  • Leading Digital R&D and IP development, collaborating with R&D and Legal to create and protect differentiated AI models, algorithms, and digital frameworks.
  • Fostering a high-performing digital culture centered on innovation, disciplined execution, measurable value creation, and effective leadership of technical organizations.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Ten (10) years of leadership in digital transformation, AI/ML, analytics, or technology-driven business growth in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Five (5) years leading directors, senior managers, and technical professionals
  • Five (5) years leading digital R&D, innovation, and IP creation.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Proven experience executing large-scale digital transformations within CPG, retail, or technology-driven industries.
  • Deep expertise in AI/ML, cloud ecosystems, and digital architecture.
  • Demonstrated success driving digital and AI adoption across commercial and operational teams.
  • Track record leading Agile, DevOps, and FinOps at enterprise scale.
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills with IT, Marketing, Sales, and other functions.
  • Visionary leadership balanced with disciplined execution and the ability to scale systems and teams globally.

Work location:

  • Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four (4) days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
  • Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
  • Relocation: May be authorized
