XM30 New Equipment Trainer & Instructional Developer

About the Role
We are seeking an XM30 New Equipment Trainer & Developer to support the development, delivery, and sustainment of training materials for the XM30 combat vehicle program. This role is responsible for translating complex vehicle systems, digital interfaces, and operational workflows into clear, effective, and visually driven training solutions for soldiers, maintainers, and program stakeholders.
The ideal candidate brings experience in HMI, UX/UI design, visual systems, and technical communication, with a strong ability to collaborate across engineering, software, and program teams. This position combines hands-on instructional development, digital training content creation, and training delivery support, with a focus on usability, clarity, and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
Training Development & Content Creation
  • Develop new equipment training (NET) materials for the XM30 program, including operator and maintainer training content.
  • Translate complex mechanical, software, and HMI system information into clear instructional materials, visual guides, and digital learning assets.
  • Design and maintain training documentation, quick-reference guides, and digital manuals aligned with program standards.

Digital & Visual Training Systems
  • Design high-fidelity visual assets, diagrams, interface walkthroughs, and screen-based training modules to support XM30 vehicle systems and software.
  • Apply UX/UI and design system principles to ensure consistency and usability across digital training tools, simulators, and HMI-based instruction.
  • Support development of interactive training content, demos, and scenario-based learning experiences.

Program Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment
  • Collaborate with engineering, software, HMI, logistics, and program management teams to ensure training content reflects current system capabilities and updates.
  • Participate in design and technical reviews, incorporating feedback from SMEs, instructors, and end users.
  • Coordinate with external vendors or agencies to maintain visual and instructional consistency across training deliverables.

Training Delivery & Support
  • Support or assist in the delivery of NET events, classroom instruction, and hands-on demonstrations as required.
  • Provide updates and revisions to training materials based on field feedback and system changes.
  • Ensure training solutions meet program timelines, quality standards, and compliance requirements.

Quality, Standards & Documentation
  • Maintain visual and instructional standards across all training products.
  • Ensure training materials align with Army, program, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of training processes, templates, and instructional frameworks.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in instructional development, technical training, UX/UI design, or visual communication supporting complex technical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate engineering and software concepts into effective training and instructional content.
  • Strong experience designing visual training assets, diagrams, presentations, and digital learning materials.
  • Proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent design tools.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineers, developers, and subject matter experts.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting military vehicles, defense programs, or new equipment training (NET).
  • Background in HMI, UX/UI, or software-based systems within mission-critical or regulated environments.
  • Experience developing training for operator and maintainer audiences.
  • Familiarity with digital training platforms, simulators, or interactive learning environments.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding contributors in content quality and standards.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Illustration, Instructional Design, Human Factors, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Portfolio Requirement
A portfolio or work samples demonstrating technical visualization, digital interfaces, instructional content, or training-related design is required.
