What is the role:
  • We're looking for a mission-driven, resilient Director of Accounting to work with the Head of Finance to build out the accounting department, ensuring that Offchain has accurate and timely financial reporting and implementing financial operating procedures.
  • This leader will roll up their sleeves and work both independently and as a manager.
  • This position is a great fit for someone who thrives in high-growth environments, enjoys solving complex blockchain related problems, and fully understands foundational accounting processes while helping us build for scale. A strong grasp of US GAAP, experience with accounting systems and integrations (such as QuickBooks, Stripe, Ramp), and a mindset focused on automation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
What you'll do:
  • Lead the monthly close process and prepare and analyze financial statements, including income. statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow
  • Drive opportunities for process improvements and automation, optimize our accounting systems and tools, and lead the implementation of accounting best practices
  • Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in compliance with US GAAP, staying up to date with FASB and SEC guidance, especially related to any digital asset policies
  • Develop, implement and enforce financial controls and policies
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable
  • Own digital asset reporting and reconciliations
  • Provide support to the management team in making informed financial decisions
  • Work with our tax partners to prepare and file tax documents and returns
  • Build and mentor the Accounting team

What you'll need:
  • Accounting department builder at heart
  • 10+ years experience with time spent at a Big 4 accounting firm
  • 2+ years of recent experience at a crypto company or crypto native. If you do not have professional experience, please share the ecosystem within crypto that you are excited about and why, in your resume or in a short cover memo
  • Experience or familiarity with digital asset accounting is highly preferred
  • Prior experience leading a financial audit in partnership with external auditors
  • CPA license holder
  • Experience with multi-entity operations
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software, financial planning tools and microsoft excel
  • Great communicator with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized and tactical
  • Ability to think strategically about department building and rolling out new processes
  • Excited to roll up your sleeves and comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment, executing on multiple projects at any given time
