We have an active real estate division and are engaged in transportation logistics and fueling including bulk, fleet, event, onsite, emergency response, and oil field services.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Generator Technician to support our power generation project. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience performing service, diagnostics, and general repairs on large-scale generators (approximately 1MW in size). This role requires a background in both mechanical and electrical systems, with operational knowledge of natural gas and diesel-powered generators.
Description of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry safe working policies and procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on natural gas and diesel generators (~1MW and larger).
  • Diagnose and repair engine systems (fuel, cooling, lubrication, exhaust) and electrical systems (control panels, switchgear, voltage regulators, sensors).
  • Conduct load testing, system inspections, and performance monitoring to ensure reliable operation.
  • Install, configure, and calibrate generator control and monitoring equipment.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and schematic drawings.
  • Respond to operational issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and parts usage.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and operator training for project equipment.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with large generators (500kW-2MW), including both diesel and natural gas units.
  • Technical Skills: Strong background in electrical systems (control circuits, switchgear, paralleling, PLCs) and mechanical systems (engines, fuel systems, cooling).
  • Education: Technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Generation Technology preferred.
  • Certifications: OEM training, EGSA (Electrical Generating Systems Association), or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of: NFPA 70E, OSHA safety practices, and power generation industry standards.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to work independently, troubleshoot under pressure, and support project operations.

Job Skills:
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Working knowledge of current computer and IT technology to include Microsoft, Excel, Outlook (emailing) and diagnostic software.
  • Experience commissioning or operating generators in industrial, oil & gas, or utility environments.
  • Ability to train operators and provide technical guidance to site personnel.
  • Familiarity with SCADA or remote monitoring systems.
  • Willingness to travel or work in field/project environments.

Environmental Requirements:
  • Work week may exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Standing, stooping, bending, doing work overhead for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders and do maintenance work, as well as enter generators/tight spaces to fix issues.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers
  • Travel may be required at times.
