Job description

We are looking for a knowledgeable Technical Parts Specialist to support customers with diesel generator parts selection and purchasing in Long Beach, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can translate technical product details into practical recommendations, helping clients find the right components for maintenance, repair, and performance needs. The role combines sales support, customer service, and product expertise to deliver accurate guidance, responsive communication, and a high-quality client experience.
Responsibilities:
• Advise customers on suitable diesel generator parts and accessories by reviewing equipment needs, operating conditions, and technical specifications.
• Support sales activity by preparing quotes, processing orders, and recommending complementary products that add value to the customer’s purchase.
• Apply working knowledge of generator systems, including engines, alternators, controls, fuel delivery, cooling, and electrical connections, to guide part selection.
• Coordinate with inventory personnel and approved suppliers to locate components, confirm availability, and secure timely fulfillment for customer requests.
• Help customers understand part usage, maintenance considerations, and basic troubleshooting steps, directing them to manuals or service resources when appropriate.
• Assess reported equipment symptoms and suggest replacement parts or practical solutions aligned with generator performance issues.
• Maintain organized and accurate records for customer inquiries, orders, invoices, shipping updates, and warranty-related documentation.
• Monitor product developments, market activity, and industry trends to stay current on diesel generator parts and related technologies.• Strong knowledge of diesel generator systems and the components that support their operation and repair.
• Previous experience in parts support, inside sales, technical customer service, or equipment-related service work, ideally within power generation or heavy equipment.
• Ability to interpret parts catalogs, technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and maintenance references to identify correct components.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to a wide range of customers.
• Proven customer service approach focused on responsiveness, accuracy, and long-term relationship building.
• Comfort with order entry, quote preparation, and general administrative tasks within inventory or sales support systems.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including sales, service, suppliers, and stockroom personnel.
• Proficiency with standard business software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with experience using inventory or parts management platforms.
