About This Role

Seeking an enthusiastic professional to join a dynamic nonprofit, committed to supporting Monmouth County’s children, families, and the child care workforce. The Community Outreach Coordinator should be highly organized, curious, empathetic, compassionate and be able to get along with a diverse culture. This engaging social service position drives family stability by facilitating community referrals through connecting families with essential resources and managing the diaper distribution program. Ensure parents successfully navigate their selected child care choices, by partnering with families to build upon their knowledge of child care and evaluating the program that best meets their family’s needs while respecting parental choice. Using their outstanding customer service skills and attention to details The Community Outreach Coordinator will ensure families receive personalized support and basic necessities.


In addition, all staff must represent Child Care Resources in a positive manner by being responsive, informative and courteous and raise awareness about child care issues by promoting the agency throughout the community. Familiarity with child care regulations, and bilingual, English/Spanish is a plus. College degree in related field preferred but not required and a minimum of two years’ experience in a child care setting or human service agency is preferred. This position requires a strong commitment to working in partnership with families, to strengthen their knowledge as consumers of child care. EOE


What You'll Do

Objective: Drives family stability by managing diaper distribution program, facilitating additional community referrals, and ensuring parents successfully navigate their selected child care choices, by partnering with them to build upon their knowledge of child care and evaluating the program that best meets their family’s needs.


Responsibilities:

Child Care Evaluation and Support

  • Contact parents to discuss their child care experience after care is established.
  • Execute regular follow up touch points to evaluate how their child care is working, answer questions, and provide connections to CCR’s services such as Infant Toddler support, Family Engagement, and other quality and community resources.
  • Identify and remove barriers to maintain care arrangement and/or provide guidance on next steps for changing child care when a change is needed.
  • Track feedback to inform the work of the CCR.
  • Support data collection efforts and maintain accurate and timely documentation of activities in WLS, NJCCIS, Excel, ALLCO etc. as required.
  • Submit monthly and quarterly reports as necessary.
  • Cover a minimum of one workshop or community event a month, along with rotating late-night coverage on Wednesday evenings.

Community Referrals

  • Provide support for Community Referral requests received from families.
  • Research requests and provide resources through the Allco System and through information received from partnering Community Agencies.
  • Provide referrals to our Diaper Bank.
  • Work in conjunction with our Family Engagement Specialist to build relationships with Community Agencies on behalf of the families we serve.
  • Work in conjunction with the Management Team to track and distribute Allco Requests.
  • Community Outreach- Promote agency’s services and on-line presence, raise awareness about child care issues.
  • Participate in agency and community outreach events when needed.

Diaper Distribution

  • Filling referrals for in-house and other organizations (example: WIC, DCP&P, etc.)
  • Managing and filling monthly bulk referrals for partnering organizations
  • Maintain schedule of diaper eligibility timeframes, ensuring equitable access and tracking program impact.
  • Contact clients to inform them of pick up deadlines and schedules.
  • Diaper Bank Inventory:

Request diapers and wipes to fill referrals when necessary.

Maintain diaper bank records through accurate data entry and reporting.

Physical retrieval and storage of inventory on-site and at the off-site locations when required.

Restocking diapers that were not picked up.

Ensuring supplies are safely organized at all locations.


Requirements

Qualification/Skills Required

  • College degree in related field is preferred but not required and a minimum of two years’ experience in a child care setting or human service agency is preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for college education at a rate of two years’ experience for one year of education
  • Strong knowledge of issues related to poverty, family health, and social services.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and complete multiple priorities with a high volume of work
  • Ability to work with interruptions and prioritize numerous and varied requests
  • Able to lift and move 20 plus pounds repeatedly
  • Comfortable with team work and is able to perform tasks independently
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Pleasant disposition and able to get along with a diverse culture
  • Familiarity with child care operations and regulations
  • Record keeping experience, computer and document based preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including professional telephone and written communication technique
  • Accurate with details, even when under time pressure
  • Computer literate [Microsoft Office suite]; including use of on-line information exchange networks (“Internet”), database experience helpful
  • Must be able to travel independently to sites, drop offs, pick ups, meetings, conferences, and trainings sessions in Monmouth County.

About Us

Child Care Resources is a not-for-profit agency that was founded in 1995 to help coordinate, assist, and strengthen child care services. As Monmouth County’s contracted child care resource and referral agency, Child Care Resources serves nearly 3,300 children every year through child care subsidy assistance. We also reach out to approximately 390 child care providers who represent all types of child care (licensed child care centers and preschools, Registered Family Child Care Homes, summer camps, and before/after-school programs) through quality enhancement programs such as training and on-site technical assistance. High quality child care is a community resource that supports families, contributes to economic productivity, and nurtures children’s growth.


Much of Child Care Resources budget is publicly funded through government grants. Any individual or organization interested in the issues of quality child care may work with us, either through direct collaboration or through financial support. Tax-deductible donations to Child Care Resources may be designated to the Jo-Anne Rothstein Memorial Fund for Quality Child Care.
