Performs a variety of routine tasks involving collection, inspection, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical/surgical supplies and equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cleans instruments manually and mechanically.
  • Processes instruments through washer/decontaminators and ultrasonic washers.
  • Maintains proper load identification information for items being sterilized via Censitrac system.
  • Conducts or assists with sterilizer testing.
  • Unpacks weekly surgical supplies and sends to OR sterile core.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of sterile and nonsterile patient care items.
  • Adheres to all regulatory agency standards per instruction (DNV, JCAHO, AAMI, OSHA, DHEC,
  • AORN, CMS, ISO, and ANSI).

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, instrumentation and surgical procedures.
  • Obtain certification in sterile processing within one year of hire.
