JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • Promote a culture of excellence through fully implementing all HSEQ programs, demonstrating personal ownership and accountability, and supporting continuous improvement programs.
  • Assists Plant Maintenance Lead Person (OLP) and Plant Supervisor with planning and preparation activities related to maintenance repair work and special projects, including, but not necessarily limited to, design and/or layout, parts procurement, and estimated downtime requirements.Installs wire, cable, and conduit.
  • Connects power source and installs switch panels, junction boxes, control panels, etc.

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

  • Electrician is a key operations support role that is required to work with all departments within the Yellowstone Mining and Processing Operation (YST).
  • This role works effectively to maintain all electrical systems within the YST, including mobile equipment.
  • This role will work as needed with outside contractors in maintenance, design, and construction of all electrical and/or control related systems within the YST.


KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully supports YST health, safety, environmental and quality programs (HSEQ) by participating in their implementation, maintenance, and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate programs and policies.
  • Safely performs layout, installation, repair, maintenance and replacement of electrical components, PLC, and electronic circuits, such as controls, motors, transformers, switchboards, and instruments.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses electrical problems and corrects by repairing, replacing, or recommending other appropriate action. (Diagnoses equipment by using ammeter, multi-meter, voltmeter, infrared thermography, vibration analysis or other appropriate equipment.)
  • Applies electronic theory and principles, testing procedures, build or modify equipment.
  • Provides technical assistance and support to plant problem-solving activities involving quality, production, environmental, maintenance, and/or change management issues.
  • Assists in analyzing equipment failures, investigating problems, and offering solutions.
  • Demonstrates solid level of proficiency in computer operation with Microsoft products including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Gmail.
  • Runs wire, cable, and conduit. Connects power sources and installs switch panels, junction boxes, control panels, etc.
  • Assists with special projects and works with outside contractors, as assigned.
  • Performs electrical calibrations on various plant equipment.
  • Utilizes a Computerized Managed Maintenance System (CMMS) to record part usage, description of work performed, hours, etc.
  • Requisitions necessary parts and supplies within appropriate authority level or informs OLP and Plant Supervisor if items are above authority level.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge needed to competently perform the duties of this position.
  • Required to respond to callouts in emergencies.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Associates Degree or higher-level degree in electrical engineering, industrial electronics or other electrical-related technical discipline preferred).
  • 5 years related experience in industrial manufacturing or milling environment.
  • State electrical license (not limited to Montana), OSHA or MSHA electrical certification, or other formal training or electrical certification.


Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics:

  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical components, electronic circuits and PLC controls in a processing plant environment; blowers and fans; air compressors; air dryers; pumps; and rotary airlocks.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical and mechanical repair manuals, structural drawings, technical procedures, and safety manuals.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills involving plant electrical issues and effectively utilize computer applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, program, and design PLC/HMI systems.
  • Must possess strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must utilize good communication and interpersonal skills to meet goals and objectives of the location safely and efficiently.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and accept maintenance callouts including the Possibility of shift work.
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to work across a multi-disciplined team to solve complex issues within the YST.
