Job Description Position Summary

TOPS Products is a leader in the tax software industry, delivering innovative solutions that streamline tax preparation and compliance. Our software supports mission‑critical workflows for tax professionals, where reliability, security, and performance are essential.

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (DevOps & Azure) to help evolve and operate our Azure cloud platform and DevOps practices. This role will focus on improving infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational reliability while partnering closely with engineering, security, and leadership teams.

This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role for someone who excels at building, automating, and improving systems, driving meaningful improvements through execution and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead implementation and continuous improvement of TOPS Products’ Azure environment.
  • Support cloud architecture through practical design and execution of networking, identity, access control, and security configurations.
  • Contribute to platform reliability, performance, and scalability initiatives.
  • Assist with cost management, resource optimization, and capacity planning.
DevOps & Delivery Enablement
  • Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Promote and implement best practices for Infrastructure as Code, automation, and environment consistency.
  • Partner with development teams to improve developer experience, release reliability, and deployment speed.
  • Help establish visibility into build, release, and operational metrics.
MSP Coordination (NOC & SOC)
  • Act as a key technical point of contact for the Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • Coordinate with the MSP on monitoring, alerting, and incident response activities.
  • Support clarity in escalation paths and ensure effective communication during incidents.
  • Review operational outputs and contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
Collaboration & Operational Excellence
  • Partner with engineering, QA, security, and product teams to align platform capabilities with business needs.
  • Contribute to incident reviews, root cause analysis, and preventative improvements.
  • Document platform configurations, standards, and operational runbooks.
  • Support ongoing improvements in platform governance and operational maturity.
What Success Looks Like
  • Azure environments are stable, secure, and continuously improving.
  • CI/CD pipelines are reliable and enable efficient, low‑risk releases.
  • Engineering teams experience fewer deployment and environment‑related issues.
  • MSP interactions are smooth, coordinated, and effective during incidents.
  • Platform improvements are consistently delivered through automation and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 6–9 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, identity, storage, security).
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and supporting modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), including NOC and/or SOC coordination.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, monitoring, and incident response practices.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in SaaS or regulated environments (finance, tax, compliance, or similar).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
  • Familiarity with Azure‑native monitoring and security tooling.
  • Experience supporting Agile or product‑focused engineering teams.
