What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AI DevOps Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AI DevOps Engineer, you need expertise in software engineering, machine learning pipelines, and cloud infrastructure, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD systems, version control (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), as well as certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you work effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving project requirements. These competencies are essential to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient deployment of AI solutions in production environments.

What are AI DevOps Engineers?

AI DevOps Engineers are professionals who blend expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and DevOps practices to streamline the development, deployment, and maintenance of AI-powered applications. They automate and manage the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for machine learning models, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency in production environments. Their role also includes monitoring AI systems, managing model versions, and collaborating with data scientists, software engineers, and IT teams to bridge the gap between development and operations. This position is crucial for organizations looking to operationalize AI solutions at scale.

How does an AI DevOps Engineer typically collaborate with data scientists and software engineers on AI projects?

An AI DevOps Engineer plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between data scientists and software engineers by streamlining the deployment and monitoring of AI models. This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevOps Engineer based in Netherlands.

This role offers the opportunity to build and improve the infrastructure that powers globally distributed digital products.
You will work at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and developer experience, helping teams deliver reliable products faster.
The position focuses on designing automation solutions, improving deployment workflows, and maintaining scalable production environments.
You will contribute to internal platforms, infrastructure reliability, and operational efficiency within a remote-first international team.
This is an ideal opportunity for a DevOps professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and taking ownership of impactful projects.
You will collaborate with engineers across teams while working with modern technologies including Kubernetes, Go, Terraform, and CI/CD systems.

Accountabilities:

As a DevOps Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the tools and infrastructure that enable efficient software delivery. You will help improve platform reliability, automation, and developer productivity while supporting scalable engineering practices.

  • Design and develop internal services and tools using Go to support deployment automation and internal developer platforms.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
  • Improve and support Kubernetes-based production and pre-production environments.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of internal deployment platforms and engineering workflows.
  • Optimize application environments, including staging and ephemeral environments, for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools such as Grafana, OpenSearch, and related observability platforms.
  • Support automation initiatives that reduce manual operational work and improve delivery speed.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer experience and software delivery processes.
  • Take ownership of technical decisions, infrastructure improvements, and operational outcomes.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have strong DevOps or Platform Engineering experience, excellent automation skills, and the ability to work independently in a distributed environment.

  • 3-5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a similar infrastructure-focused role.
  • Strong Go (Golang) development skills with experience building production services, tools, or platform components.
  • Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes environments in production.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices and experience with GitLab CI/CD or similar tools.
  • Solid Linux administration skills and experience managing production systems.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Familiarity with observability solutions including Grafana, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, ELK, or OpenSearch.
  • Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and software delivery lifecycles.
  • Ability to take ownership, make technical decisions, and drive improvements independently.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional, remote teams.
  • Fluent Russian communication skills and intermediate English proficiency (B1 or higher).
Benefits:
  • Fully remote, full-time work opportunity.
  • 28 calendar days of annual vacation.
  • 7 additional wellness days per year for personal needs and recovery.
  • Performance bonuses of up to $5,000 for successful employee referrals.
  • 50% reimbursement for professional training, conferences, and industry events.
  • Corporate discounts for English language courses.
  • Health benefits, including reimbursement support for medical insurance or healthcare expenses where applicable.
  • Workplace support, including equipment provision or reimbursement for home office and coworking expenses.
  • Access to a workplace setup budget of up to $1,000 gross every three years, depending on location.
  • Internal recognition and rewards program with opportunities to exchange bonuses for merchandise, team activities, and wellness benefits.
  • Opportunity to work with an international, remote-first team building impactful digital products.
