DevOps Manager
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic DevOps Manager to lead our DevOps function and drive the evolution of our infrastructure, automation, and deployment practices. This role will oversee a team of DevOps engineers and collaborate closely with Engineering, Security, and IT to build scalable, secure, and reliable systems that support rapid product delivery.
The DevOps Manager has the understanding and experiences of cultural philosophies, practices, and tools to help Proofpoint deliver end-to-end applications and infrastructure solutions safely and at high velocity.
The DevOps Manager will be responsible for managing, mentoring, and supporting DevOps engineers on their team.
The DevOps Manager will assist on larger projects or run smaller projects by themselves. A successful candidate has technical depth and hands-on implementation experience of various practices and tools in the DevOps toolchain.
The DevOps Manager is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to design and code modules for infrastructure, application and processes as well as participating in rotational on-call support.
Your Day to Day
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing DevOps team.

  • Define and execute the DevOps roadmap aligned with engineering and business objectives.

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure.

  • Establish and enforce best practices for infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, and observability.

  • Partner with Security to embed DevSecOps practices across the software development lifecycle.

  • Improve system reliability through monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.

  • Manage cloud cost optimization and infrastructure budgeting.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve engineering productivity.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring to the Team
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles.

  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams.

  • 3+ years of related experience preferably in a SaaS environment

  • 3+ years of cloud environment experience preferably working with AWS

  • 3+ years of experience working with Configuration-as-Code (CaC) (Ansible Preferred)

  • 3+ years of experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) (Terraform Preferred)

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux systems administration and/or engineering

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Hands-on expertise with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions / Jenkins).

  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar).

  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Coralogix, Grafana, etc.).

  • Deep understanding of networking, security best practices, and system architecture.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, security best practices, and system administration.

  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate core DevOps concepts (CI/CD, Agile & Automation)

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in high-availability, distributed systems.

  • Experience in scaling SaaS platforms.

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, etc.).

  • Experience managing multi-region or global infrastructure.

  • BSC in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Base Pay Range: 187,700.00 - 275,275.00 USD
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:
Base Pay Range: 151,000.00 - 221,430.00 USD
All other cities and states excluding those listed above:
Base Pay Range: 137,000.00 - 200,915.00 USD
