LOCATION: Lehi, UT - Hybrid (Monday-Wednesday in office)
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Opiniion is a SaaS, AI-first company reshaping how businesses understand and act on customer feedback. We're looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to own the reliability, scalability, and security of our AWS infrastructure. This is a role for someone who thinks in systems, automates everything that shouldn't be manual, and can move fast without breaking trust in the platform.
We're building a new platform alongside our current one, so this role requires balance: owning and operating what's live today while partnering with our Staff Software Architect and Staff Data Architect to stand up the infrastructure for what's next.
You'll set the technical bar for how we build, deploy, and operate our infrastructure, and be a key partner to engineering as we scale.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure on AWS.
  • Balance ownership of existing production infrastructure with building new infrastructure for our next generation platform.
  • Partner with the Staff Software Architect and Staff Data Architect to design the infrastructure foundation for the new platform, while ensuring a clean path to carry over what still needs to run from the current one.
  • Own and evolve the CI/CD pipeline infrastructure and tooling that automation and quality gates run within.
  • Drive infrastructure as code practices across the organization using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Manage and optimize core AWS services (EC2, VPC, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch).
  • Build and improve observability, monitoring, and alerting so issues are caught before they become incidents.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for production systems.
  • Drive cost optimization and capacity planning across our cloud footprint.
  • Embed security best practices into every stage of the deployment pipeline.
  • Mentor engineers on DevOps and cloud infrastructure best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure engineering, with meaningful time in a staff or technical leadership capacity.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in AWS, including EC2, VPC, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
  • Proven track record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).
  • Solid experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or similar).
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of networking, security groups, and AWS security best practices.
  • Experience supporting SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks.
  • Comfort operating in a dual-track environment: maintaining a live production system while helping architect what replaces it.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • A strong bias for action and a mindset of continuous improvement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Experience with multi-country compliance requirements (data residency, privacy regulations, cross-border data handling).
  • Experience supporting AI/ML workloads or MLOps pipelines on AWS.
  • Background in high-growth SaaS environments or post-acquisition infrastructure consolidation.

OPINIION'S CULTURE:
At Opiniion, we take our work seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously! We work hard together, and we have a lot of fun doing it. We are a team that believes in real autonomy: you own your area, solve problems, and move fast enough to actually see the change you make. The people here are invested in each other just as much as they're invested in the work, and that combination is what makes this place different. We believe in collaboration, innovation, and building a team that truly cares-about our clients, their residents, and each other.
BENEFITS SNAPSHOT:
  • Comprehensive healthcare plans, encompassing medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with group life coverage. Opiniion covers 40-90% of the premium cost for employees and all dependents.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 100% corporate match on the first 1% and 50% match on the next 5%.
  • Pre-tax Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
  • Paid Parental Leave for all new parents (including adoption or foster care).
  • Unlimited Time Off policies.
  • 10 Paid Holidays annually.
  • Monthly Wellness Reimbursement benefit.
  • Note that the above benefits are available only to full-time employees of Opiniion
