Job description

The Role:

The Welding Engineer Intern will support the Welding Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering teams in the development, evaluation, and improvement of welding processes and fabrication methods. This internship provides hands-on exposure to welding engineering practices, manufacturing operations, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals to gain practical knowledge of welding technologies, materials, and industry codes.

Your Responsibilities:

Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams on troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives.

Observe and assist with welding process development, testing, and continuous improvement projects for production.

Observe and assist with qualification testing of welding personnel.

Assist in the preparation of welding procedures, technical reports, and engineering documentation.

Support research and evaluation of welding techniques, equipment, and fabrication methods.

Assist in weld inspections, testing, and documentation activities.

Help collect and analyze production and quality data to identify process improvement opportunities.

Support compliance with applicable welding standards such as ASME & NAVSEA.

Participate in investigations related to weld quality, process optimization, and corrective actions.

Research emerging welding technologies and industry best practices.

Follow all safety, quality, and environmental requirements within the manufacturing environment.

Requirements:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.

Must be entering Sophomore or Junior year.

Basic understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, and manufacturing principles.

Must have experience with hands on welding processes such as GTAW & GMAW.

Familiarity with engineering drawings and technical documentation is preferred.

Interest in industrial manufacturing, fabrication, and welding technologies.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.

AutoCAD and Inventor experience with Solid Modeling and 3D design experience is preferred.
