Business Development Representative

Location: Austin TX, 78701

Company: 1921 Consultants

Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid)

Compensation: Base salary + performance bonus

About 1921 Consultants

We help employers take control of one of their largest and most frustrating expenses: employee benefits. Instead of the recycled, spreadsheet-and-renewal approach most brokers run, we bring a consulting mindset - data, strategy, and creative funding solutions that actually bend the cost curve for our clients.

At 1921 Consultants, we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth, empowering our team to challenge the status quo and deliver exceptional value to our clients.

The Role

We're hiring a Business Development Representative to be the tip of the spear for our growth. You'll research target employers, open conversations with HR leaders, CFOs, and business owners, and book qualified meetings for our producers. It's the best seat in the house to learn consultative B2B selling - and a clear path toward a producer role for those who earn it.

What you'll do
  • Research and build target account lists across our market
  • Run outbound prospecting - calls, email, and LinkedIn - to spark conversations with decision-makers
  • Qualify prospects and book discovery meetings for our producers
  • Keep the CRM clean and your pipeline organized and moving
  • Learn the benefits business from the ground up alongside experienced producers
What we're looking for
  • 0-2 years in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role (internships count)
  • High activity, thick skin, and genuine curiosity about people and business
  • Strong communication and writing skills - you can hold your own with senior buyers
  • Organized, coachable, and hungry to grow into a producer seat
  • Life & Health license a plus (or willingness to obtain)
