Job description

Crew HR is seeking a talented Director of Construction for our client, JS Pro Construction.

DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION

Are you ready to become the operational leader behind a respected coastal custom home builder known for craftsmanship, quality, and strong relationships?

Do you have a passion for construction, developing people, and creating the systems that allow great teams to do their best work?

Are you a hands-on leader who enjoys being close to the work, walking job sites, supporting your team, solving problems, and improving how things get done?

Are you someone who brings structure, accountability, and consistency while still maintaining the relationships and culture that make a company special?

Do you believe great leadership is built through humility, trust, and leading by example, not through ego or authority?

Do you enjoy working alongside an Owner who genuinely cares about his team, his clients, and building a company the right way?

ABOUT JS PRO CONSTRUCTION

JS Pro Construction is seeking an exceptional Director of Construction to partner directly with the Owner, as we enter an exciting new chapter of growth.

Founded in 2005, JS Pro Construction is a New Jersey-based Residential Custom Home Builder and Construction Management Company specializing in exceptional custom homes along the South Jersey coast. We have built our reputation through superior craftsmanship, trusted relationships, and an unwavering commitment to delivering an outstanding client experience.

Everything we do is guided by three simple values:

Tell the Truth Early

No surprises. Ever. We believe trust is built through honesty—especially when conversations are difficult.

Win Together

One team. One outcome. We succeed together through collaboration, communication, and mutual respect.

Protect Peace of Mind

We build homes—and systems—that protect our clients, our company, and each other.

As our company continues to grow, we're looking for a leader who can build the operational foundation for our future. Someone who can strengthen our people, improve our systems, increase profitability, and ensure every project reflects the level of excellence our clients expect.

This isn't simply another construction leadership role.

This is an opportunity to become John's trusted operational partner and help transform a successful founder-led business into a scalable, professionally managed organization while preserving the culture that has made JS Pro Construction so successful.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF...

  • You love building exceptional teams just as much as building exceptional homes.
  • You naturally create structure, accountability, and clarity wherever you go.
  • You enjoy coaching Project Managers and helping people become stronger leaders.
  • You believe the best leaders earn respect by rolling up their sleeves and leading by example.
  • You are equally comfortable walking job sites, meeting with clients, collaborating with subcontractors, and working alongside the office team.
  • You enjoy solving operational problems before they become emergencies.
  • You understand how budgets, scheduling, labour, and job costing all impact profitability.
  • You communicate openly and address difficult conversations early, honestly, and respectfully.
  • You enjoy implementing systems, SOPs, and processes that help organizations grow.
  • You believe accountability is about helping people succeed—not simply holding them responsible.
  • You thrive in collaborative environments where everyone contributes and no job is beneath anyone.
  • You value different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives, and create an environment where everyone feels respected.
  • You enjoy being "boots on the ground," jumping in wherever needed—from the office to the job site.
  • You are creative, resourceful, and able to think outside the box when challenges arise.
  • You are bilingual in English and Spanish (a strong asset).
  • You would enjoy working alongside a humble Owner who genuinely cares about his people and wants to build something exceptional together.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BE...

  • Leading and mentoring the Project Management team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coaching and developing Project Managers through regular feedback, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and development of operational talent to strengthen the organization.
  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the construction division, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Providing strategic oversight across multiple luxury custom home projects while proactively identifying risks and removing operational roadblocks.
  • Monitoring project schedules, milestones, budgets, resource allocation, and project performance to keep work moving efficiently.
  • Spending significant time in the field understanding how work is performed, supporting the team, and leading improvements through hands-on involvement.
  • Managing project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, profitability, and cost controls.
  • Overseeing contracts, change orders, project documentation, and operational controls to ensure consistency and reduce risk.
  • Partnering closely with the Controller by providing timely operational data that supports reporting, analytics, and informed business decisions.
  • Providing exceptional customer service by communicating openly, managing client expectations, resolving concerns professionally, and ensuring every client feels informed, respected, and confident throughout their project.
  • Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, trade partners, clients, and internal teams while maintaining accountability for quality, communication, and performance.
  • Supporting Project Managers in delivering an exceptional client experience from project kickoff through completion.
  • Resolving project challenges while balancing customer satisfaction, project timelines, and financial objectives.
  • Developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that create consistency, efficiency, and scalability across the organization.
  • Championing the effective use of JobTread by improving workflows, adoption, reporting, and operational visibility.
  • Establishing key performance indicators, dashboards, and reporting systems that support better decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Continuously evaluating operational workflows and implementing systems that shift the company from reactive problem-solving to proactive planning and execution.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5+ years of operational leadership, project management, or construction management experience within the residential construction industry.
  • Experience working with luxury or custom home builders (experience in commercial or multifamily alongside custom homes is also valuable).
  • Proven experience leading and developing Project Managers, Superintendents, or construction teams.
  • Demonstrated success implementing systems, improving operational performance, and strengthening organizational controls.
  • Experience transforming organizations from reactive operations into proactive, process-driven businesses.
  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, margin management, and profitability analysis.
  • Experience developing SOPs, workflows, KPIs, and operational reporting systems.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Experience with JobTread, QuickBooks, or similar construction management software.
  • Experience working in entrepreneurial, founder-led organizations where ownership, flexibility, and collaboration are essential.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

THE NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Experience scaling a small-to-mid-sized construction company.
  • Spanish-English bilingual.

SALARY RANGE:
