Summary/ObjectiveThe Beverage R&D Director is responsible for managing and developing the respective application team and ensuring optimum and satisfactory customer support.
Essential Functions

  • Establish and develop a qualified and motivated team; Lead, assess and develop direct reports in a professional and disciplinary capacity alongside HR.
  • Provide support and training in bench top application development.
  • Ensure the development of new recipes for customer and innovation projects and matching products, and the further development of existing recipes.
  • Ensure that recipes are created and maintained in SAP.
  • Ensure the maintenance of product-specific substance data in SAP.
  • Optimize the recipe portfolio in terms of cost structure, resource use and quality in collaboration with Recipe Management.
  • Ensure the correct and punctual execution of laboratory mixtures and the creation of product samples.
  • Ensure correct coordination and collaboration with the Sampling Lab and Pilot Plant for the production of appropriate customer samples.
  • Ensure tasting for products developed.
  • Implement specifications for conducting diverse tests on product shelf life and changes, and adapt these guidelines to the respective B2C Group if necessary.
  • Discuss with and support the Technical Account Manager on customer-specific circumstances, recipe formulation and filling technology.
  • Collaborate with Technical Project Managers and Sales (discuss briefings, clarify questions usually for BtO processes, taste, evaluate and select samples).
  • Participate in customer workshops in collaboration with Product Management, Technical Project Management and Sales; arrange for samples to be produced and independently prepare and customize customer samples during the workshop.
  • Ensure that production recipes, process parameters, the test plan and approval of the new recipe are checked.
  • Evaluate and conduct measures assigned by Quality and corrective action.
  • Implement in-house and statutory specifications and guidelines on hygiene, HACCP, food safety, occupational safety and environmental protection; Ensure that these are implemented in subordinate organizational units.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a laboratory environment most of the time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers. While performing this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid and cold temperatures.
