The BI Developer is responsible for ensuring that business leaders and teams have access to accurate, timely, and actionable reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making. The role translates business information needs into effective reporting and analytics solutions, leveraging ERP and enterprise data platforms while balancing accessibility, data integrity, security, and confidentiality.
Working closely with business stakeholders, super users, and senior leaders across North America, the role develops a deep understanding of business processes and performance drivers and provides fit-for-purpose reports and dashboards that enable insight and accountability. The position plays a key role in supporting ERP-based reporting, including Navision and connected applications, ensuring required data is captured, governed, and presented in a meaningful way.
Operating within a global BI model, the BI Developer collaborates with global BI teams, IT partners, and external vendors to deliver standardized reporting where possible while accommodating legitimate regional and functional requirements. The role contributes to the ongoing enhancement of reporting platforms, models, and governance frameworks, helping to improve consistency, scalability, and long-term sustainability of the BI environment.
Through strong stakeholder engagement, analytical expertise, and continuous improvement, the BI Developer helps the organization make better use of its data assets, reduce manual reporting effort, and strengthen data-driven decision-making across the business.
Job Responsibilities:
Advise the Business on Accessing Information from Navision
  • Build deep expertise in the Navision reporting stack and adjacent tools: Navision native reporting, TimeXtender Cubes, Azure Services Tabular Models, Power BI-including capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use.
  • Engage business owners, champions, and key users to gather/clarify reporting needs-challenging assumptions to ensure true purpose, metrics, and decisions are understood.
  • Modify, create, and provision access to reports and dashboards to meet validated needs.
  • Partner with global BI and internal/external development partners to design and deliver reporting solutions.
  • Develop, communicate, and track the workplan for reporting delivery with the Navision project and global BI teams.
  • Test reports with end users; manage UAT and secure formal sign-off.

Deliver BI Reporting Requirements in Navision & Connected Ecosystems
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, reusable semantic models, datasets, and report designs (prioritizing standardization).
  • Directly build reports/dashboards and coordinate partner development where appropriate.
  • Ensure data definitions, KPIs, and hierarchies are consistent across regions and functions.
  • Maintain report catalogs, documentation, and data lineage.

Contribute to the Global Azure Services Tabular Models
  • Participate in the global BI network, identifying high-priority global opportunities.
  • Represent NA requirements in the global roadmap; contribute to global model design and enhancements.
  • Help shape and uphold global BI governance balancing data integrity, security, and standardization with legitimate local customization.

ERP & Application Environments (as they relate to BI/Reporting)
  • Coordinate with infrastructure/application teams to maintain dev/test/prod environments for BI/reporting (e.g., Power BI gateways, Tabular models, TimeXtender).
  • Monitor and align reporting dependencies and integrations across Nicelabel, Zetadocs, Continia, Anaplan, and CRM to ensure data integrity and seamless environment transitions.
  • Ensure change control, versioning, and release practices support reliable BI delivery.

Performance, Support & Enablement (BI Scope)
  • Track and optimize dataset refreshes, query performance, and model design to ensure reliable, performant reporting.
  • Triage and manage third-level BI/reporting issues; convert user-reported problems into actionable tasks for BI, infrastructure, and the global helpdesk.
  • Ensure support models, runbooks, and documentation enable efficient global support.

Continuous Improvement & Architecture
  • Engage stakeholders to document evolving reporting needs; anticipate changes driven by process or system evolution.
  • Translate business needs into cost-effective, scalable reporting architectures that support operational excellence and strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain and refine BI architecture documentation, standards, and patterns.
  • Scan industry practices and tooling; recommend pilots that improve performance, security, governance, or integration.
  • Contribute to capacity planning (data volumes, refresh windows, concurrency) to scale with growth.

Monitoring, Helpdesk & Vendor Oversight (BI Focus)
  • Ensure monitoring and alerting are in place for BI assets (refresh failures, gateway health, model performance).
  • Equip the Global Service Desk with knowledge articles, SLAs, and escalation paths for BI incidents.
  • Manage relationships with BI/reporting vendors and partners; oversee SOWs, effort estimates, and value delivery.

Performs other related duties as required or requested.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, IT or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years in management accounting, BI, or analytics roles with proven delivery of reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Strong ability to understand business operations and translate needs into reporting solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences).
  • Detailed knowledge of financial/ERP systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Structured, disciplined approach to problem-solving and lightweight project management.
  • Experience sourcing, modeling, and analyzing data to generate actionable insights; ability to present succinctly.
  • Proficiency with BI delivery tools (report authoring, modeling, governance).
  • Experience with continuous improvement methods in supply chain and business processes.
  • Ability to partner with infrastructure/app teams on environments, monitoring, and support (without owning infrastructure).

Preferred
  • Expertise with Microsoft BI Stack: Power BI, Excel, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS/Tabular), Power BI Service, and TimeXtender Cubes.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, DAX (or similar) for data discovery and analytics.
  • Familiarity with integrations and reporting across Navision, Nicelabel, Zetadocs, Continia, Anaplan, and CRM.
  • Knowledge of / empathy with the agricultural industry, supply chains, and inventory.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft / Azure).

Work Environment & Travel Requirements:
  • Hybrid office environment.
  • Travel up to 15%, including local and international, as required.
