Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.

As a Civil Engineer Intern, you will support the Brightline West team in Las Vegas, NV, contributing to the design coordination and construction management of a transformative rail infrastructure project. This internship is an educational experience designed for students to build foundational engineering skills, gain exposure to multidisciplinary design and construction management teams, and learn directly from experienced professionals through hands-on project work and mentorship.
INTERNSHIP ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Civil Engineer Internship provides students with the opportunity to gain real-world exposure to the design coordination and construction management of high-speed rail infrastructure. Interns will develop confidence and marketable skills by supporting technical teams and participating in engineering-related activities across multiple disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Learn the fundamentals of high-speed rail infrastructure project management
  • Assist with the review of engineering drawings, technical documentation, RFIs, submittals, and other contract management documents across multiple disciplines
  • Develop the ability to interpret and understand two-dimensional engineering designs in three dimensions
  • Observe and participate in pre-construction coordination meetings and observe activities in the field
  • Attend technical meetings alongside senior team members to gain exposure to real-world engineering and construction management discussions
  • Learn how civil, structural, and other engineering disciplines interact on large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Complete engineering-related assignments involving rail infrastructure, track, highways, and utilities under the guidance of senior staff

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated interest or coursework related to structural or civil engineering concepts
  • Experience using Bluebeam preferred

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
  • This is a paid internship, with work performed in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Students are responsible for all arrangements of housing and travel.
  • Students are expected to work a full-time schedule throughout the course of our Summer Internship Program and must be available to participate for the entirety of the Summer Internship Program, running June 1st - July 31st.
  • Students must be authorized to work in the United States.
