Job description

Overview

Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions, is looking for a Defense Engineering Intern FW to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company for the period of May 3, 2027 to May 2, 2028.  To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to our Aerospace and Defense Engineering team. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on alongside our team of GNSS receiver engineers working on the latest defense Firmware. Working with our experienced team of software, verification and system engineers you will gain valuable experience in software design and verification. 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based onsite in Calgary, AB. 

Responsibilities

As a Defense Engineering Intern FW, responsibilities include:

  • Design, execution and documentation of verification methods for our receiver products
  • Troubleshoot failing tests and/or units under test
  • Test automation and postprocessing using Matlab and Python
  • Contribute to the design of the Antijam product SW (depending on the capabilities of the successful candidate)
  • Characterization of receiver behavior and design of new test scenarios
  • Participate in design reviews
Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • Registered in the Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed at least your 2nd or 3rd year of studies by the start of your work term
  • Enrolled in Geomatics, Computer Science or other relevant engineering at an accredited post secondary institution
  • Available for a minimum 12 month work term, 37.5 hours a week 
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

  • You are comfortable working individually but know when to ask for help

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with Matlab, Python and C++
