At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We're creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We're erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We're advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we're reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity.
Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.
The Strata program's GEOINT Visualization Services (GVS) system has been delivering secure, on-demand geospatial intelligence since its first fielded deployment in 2006 and earned Program-of-Record status in 2008. GVS enables Federal agencies to access, explore, and integrate GEOINT data through a versatile, web-based suite of visualization tools, APIs, and utilities that support a wide range of client technologies and applications. By turning massive geospatial data sets into actionable insight, GVS directly supports the warfighter and federal decision-makers, protecting lives and securing the homeland.
Lockheed Martin's Strata program is seeking a Software Associate Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of software developers. In this role you will combine people-management with hands-on technical leadership, driving Agile (Scrum/SAFe/DevSecOps) development of cloud-native, AI-enhanced GEOINT services. You will provide technical guidance, process steering, and direct support to ensure solutions align with program objectives and engineering best practices. Your work will be visible to senior program leadership and key government customers, offering valuable experience for future growth within the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- People leadership: Manage time-and-attendance, recruit, hire, onboard, and mentor engineers; deliver performance feedback, merit planning, and career-development coaching; serve as the go-to resource for employee questions and coaching.
- Program execution: Oversee multiple Agile teams that deliver cloud-native micro-services, containerized applications, and next-generation GIS APIs; provide resources and guidance for change-management and special-project initiatives; ensure engineering direction and status are communicated consistently to the Program and Leadership Teams.
- Technical oversight & support: Conduct technical reviews, steer adoption of DevSecOps tooling (automated security testing, CI/CD pipelines, zero-trust practices), and resolve critical technical issues to maintain alignment with mission goals.
- Financial & risk stewardship: Perform Earned Value Management (EVM) and control-account management; develop, track, and report budgets; understand Firm-Fixed-Price and Cost-Plus contract structures; identify, mitigate, and capitalize on risks and opportunities.
- Milestone support: Coordinate sprint reviews and demo sessions led by Scrum Masters and Product Owners, facilitate customer meetings and outreach, manage ongoing communications, and ensure deliverables meet quality, schedule and cost objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- Proven experience in Agile software development and DevSecOps environments, including roles such as IPT Lead, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Release Train Engineer.
- Demonstrated leadership of software or systems engineering teams, with a track record of motivating engineers.
- Proficiency in Earned Value Management (EVM) and Control Account Management (CAM) responsibilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and solid engineering background supporting Agile/DevSecOps practices.
- Ability to manage and interpret financial budgets for development functions, including familiarity with Firm-Fixed-Price and Cost-Plus contract types.
Active Top Secret clearance needed to start with ability to obtain Top-Secret/SCI with a CI Polygraph.
Desired skills
- Experience leading virtual, multi-organization teams (Lockheed Martin, subcontractors, customers).
- Experience leading and/or managing Agile processes for developers (defining, refining and enforcing agile ceremonies, metrics and tooling to keep teams productive and aligned)
- Certified Control Account Manager (CAM)
- Cloud-computing expertise (architecture, design, tooling, certification, deployment).
- Kubernetes/OpenShift platform experience for container orchestration and deployment.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with Lockheed Martin policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with the GEOINT community, its products, and customer set.
- Demonstrated aptitude for rapid learning, ownership, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Active TS/SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph
