Position Summary:
The Application Developer I plays a key role in supporting the Development Team's workflow and overall effectiveness. This position is responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of internally built applications and services, serving as the initial point of review for incoming bug reports and enhancement requests. The individual collaborates closely with end users, the IT helpdesk, and fellow developers to troubleshoot issues, implement fixes when possible, and escalate more complex concerns as needed. In addition, the Application Developer I contributes to the creation of quality assurance testing plans and executes application testing to ensure reliability and performance. This role also partners with business units across the organization to gather requirements, understand evolving needs, and develop clear, supporting documentation for new initiatives.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration: Work with other users and teams to gather requirements and develop and evaluate solutions.
  • Support and Maintenance: Provide support for existing applications by troubleshooting issues and implementing necessary fixes or enhancements.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct testing and debugging of applications to ensure they function accurately and meet quality standards.
  • Learning and Development: Continuously enhance knowledge of application developer tools, market trends, programming languages, and best practices and provide input to improve and enhance internal processes and systems.
  • Application Development: Assist in the design, development, and implementation of software applications based on user requirements and technical specifications.
  • Code Writing: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to software applications, including user guides, technical specifications, and testing documentation.
  • Special projects and tasks as assigned.

Selection Criteria
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred or 4 years of professional experience.

  • Professional experience in an IT, help desk, or customer service role.
  • Foundational experience using C# and debugging using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Foundational experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Foundational experience using a relational database, such as Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL.

Other:
  • Previous experience creating or maintaining web or desktop applications preferred.
  • Experience with Vue JavaScript Framework Preferred.
  • Able to quickly grasp both business and technical concepts and solve difficult technical problems by leveraging available resources.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to adjust content and delivery based on the audience.
