You are a proactive and creative problem-solver with strong analytical skills, as well as a good communicator who has the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors. And finally, you are committed to the advancement of technology, building performance, and sustainability strategies in design and construction.
We have openings in our New York office for Architectural Designer Interns and Interior Designer Interns with a passion for thoughtful, modern design. Knowledge of environmentally sensitive building systems and products is desirable though not required. Intern Designers work directly with architects and interior designers to participate in the design and documentation process for a wide-array of project types, sizes, and complexities.
Candidates will have:
  • To be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Architectural or Interior design
  • The ability to commit to full-time hours (8:30AM - 5:30PM, Monday - Friday) for 3 months (start/stop dates negotiable according to academic calendar)
  • A portfolio with projects demonstrating intelligent, innovative design solutions and strong presentation graphics
  • Experience producing material boards
  • Knowledge of REVIT
  • Basic understanding of FF&E is encouraged
  • Interest in variety of project types including commercial office, mixed-use, civic, retail, academic, and/or cultural projects
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team on larger-scale projects

Responsibilities may include:
  • Produce graphic material and renderings for design presentations
  • Assist with material/finish selection; create material boards
  • Compile furniture presentations and specifications
  • Meet with vendors and consultants
  • Create finish plans and elevations
  • Assist with composing construction documents
  • Participate in site visits, including field surveys
  • Provide support for assigned projects
  • Correct and update drawings

Qualities desired to excel in this role include an ability to be facile at problem-solving, and strong presentation and communication skills. An aptitude for strong design and an ability to work on teams in a collaborative environment is also sought and valued.
Our base salary compensation for this position based on experience ranges from $25/hour to $30/hour.
