At Raytheon, the Effector RF Design Department is seeking is seeking a highly motivated RF Design Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to work with a variety of programs as a contributor to detailed design, simulation, product development, and initial product testing. The successful candidate will have educational experience or professional interest designing RF and microwave hardware, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters. This role includes design and test activities that span preliminary design to integration. Products we develop support radar and datalink applications on a variety of tactical missile programs. Critical to this role will be designing for challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments.
All interns will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to "shadow" experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.
What You Will Do:
  • Supporting design and development of transmitters, receivers or exciters.
  • Experience designing and optimizing RF circuits - either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.)
  • Working in a lab to accomplish component characterization as well as module verification and integration.
  • Working with interdisciplinary teams - power, digital, mechanical, etc.
  • Schematic capture and detailed design.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session .
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Experience and/or coursework in programming and/or simulation experience in MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent language.
  • Experience and/or coursework with one or more of the following: Communication theory, Digital signal processing, Probability theory, Stochastic signal processing, and/or RF and electromagnetic theory

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.
  • Solid background and practical understanding of RF electronics design considerations (to include experience or relevant course work).
  • Experience with any of the following tools: Mentor Xpedition xDX Designer, System Vision, MATLAB, MathCad, Computer Simulation Technologies (CST), Microwave Design Studio, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and Advanced Design System (ADS).
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
