Job description

Director of Design Operations
Reports to: General Manager
We’re looking for a Director of Design Operations who loves bringing order to complexity. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, operations, and execution. You’ll lead the teams, systems, and timelines that ensure every event is delivered with excellence, consistency, and precision. From sales handoff to event-day readiness, you’ll create the structure and accountability that turns vision into reality.
The Director of Design Operations plays a central role in how we deliver for our clients. This position ensures that what is promised is thoughtfully planned, clearly communicated, and executed with excellence. It’s an opportunity to lead talented teams, strengthen operations, and help shape the next phase of growth for a company that values both creativity and precision.
What You’ll Do
Team Leadership amp; Accountability
  • Lead, coach, and develop the floral, production, staffing, and execution teams with clear expectations and a high standard of accountability
  • Create a culture of ownership, professionalism, and follow-through across the design organization
  • Run regular one-on-ones and team meetings that keep priorities clear, issues addressed, and projects moving
  • Partner closely with Sales, Catering Operations, and other internal teams to ensure alignment from concept through execution
Event Execution amp; Readiness
  • Ensure all design elements are fully planned, communicated, and ready well before event day
  • Oversee execution standards across floral, décor, installations, and custom builds to maintain consistency and quality
  • Translate sold concepts into clear execution plans so teams can deliver with confidence and precision
  • Keep events on track, on budget, and aligned with the client vision from start to finish
Project amp; Workflow Management
  • Own master timelines across all design-related events and projects, keeping teams focused on milestones and deadlines
  • Anticipate roadblocks early and put proactive plans in place to avoid last-minute issues
  • Oversee workflows across production, warehouse, staffing, and vendor coordination to support efficient execution
  • Ensure teams are working with clarity, strong communication, and the resources they need to perform at a high level
Systems amp; Operational Excellence
  • Build and maintain systems that improve visibility, organization, and accountability across the department
  • Standardize processes across floral, production, and coordination teams to create consistency and reduce unnecessary friction
  • Ensure timelines, diagrams, inventories, and build details are accurate, accessible, and actionable
  • Continuously refine operations so the business can grow without sacrificing quality, control, or team effectiveness
What We’re Looking For
  • A strong operational leader with experience managing complex projects and bringing calm, structure, and discipline to fast-paced environments
  • Someone who naturally plans ahead, stays organized across many moving parts, and doesn’t rely on last-minute fixes
  • A leader who can confidently manage and unify creative, production, and coordination teams around a shared plan
  • A hands-on, detail-oriented problem solver who notices gaps early and takes action before they affect execution
  • 5–10 years of relevant leadership experience in event design, event production, hospitality, or a similarly high-expectation environment
Physical requirements
  • Constant standing and walking
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling and crawling
  • Frequent ascending or descending of ladders, stairs and/or ramps
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours per shift
  • Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing and rotation of the spine, elbows and wrists
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular and continuing basis
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to listen and speak, for both client and team member interaction
  • Frequent use of POS/Computer systems
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
FULL-TIME/PART-TIME Full-Time
