Job description

Who we are

Hammer Media is the digital media powerhouse behind Caleb Hammer and the hit show Financial Audit.

In just three years, we've built one of the internet's fastest-growing brands, amassing over 3 million subscribers and 3 billion views!

Our mission scales through Dollarwise, a financial health platform that transforms viral content into practical tools. By bridging the gap between entertainment and FinTech, we provide personalized resources that empower users to master their habits and take control of their financial future.

Join us as we build the ultimate ecosystem for financial literacy and long-term growth.

About the Role

We are seeking a Design Manager to serve as a founding member of our creative team. Reporting directly to the VP of Marketing, you will lead the visual evolution of our brands. You will work alongside our Senior Copyeditor and Creative Strategist to translate big ideas into high-converting assets. Your primary goal is to build a scalable design engine that enables our Social Media Manager and Paid Media Managers to execute at high velocity through custom templates and streamlined asset libraries.

What You'll Do:

  • Creative Collaboration: Partner with the Senior Copyeditor and Creative Strategist to conceptualize and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns
  • Team Enablement: Architect and maintain Canva Brand Kits and "Self-Service" templates specifically designed to empower the Social Media Manager and Paid Media Managers to move quickly and accurately
  • Marketing & Brand Execution: Lead the creation of all marketing collateral, including high-converting ads, email designs, and sales decks for Hammer Media and Dollarwise
  • Product & UI Support: Support the Dollarwise product team by designing in-app visuals, custom iconography, and financial education illustrations
  • Infrastructure & Playbooks: Author the official Design Playbooks and Rules of Engagement, ensuring a consistent "founding" visual standard across the company
  • Video & Motion Production: Handle basic video editing and motion graphics for social clips and ads, reducing the reliance on external vendors like Fiverr
  • Vendor Management: Manage 3rd-party overflow and specialty contractors, ensuring all external work adheres to the internal design systems you've built

Requirements

  • 5-8 Years Experience: Proven track record in visual design or creative management, ideally in a fast-paced startup or agency environment
  • Figma Expert: Mastery of Figma for high-fidelity design and product collaboration
  • Canva Power User: Advanced ability to build and lock down complex brand systems within Canva Teams
  • Founding Mindset: Ability to build a design department from the ground up, moving between high-level strategy and tactical execution
  • Tech-Fluent: Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., PhotoAI, ElevenLabs) to augment creative output

Benefits

We are an in-office team in East Austin because we believe the best ideas happen when we're in the same room. Our culture is high-energy, collaborative, and focused on radical accountability.

  • Relocation Assistance: Not in Austin? No problem. We provide a relocation package to help the right candidate join us here
  • Awesome Office & Team: Work from our East Austin office with a stocked snack bar, catered lunches, and a team that actually likes spending time together
  • Unlimited PTO: We trust you to manage your time and your results
  • Health & Wealth: 100% coverage for employee health, dental, and vision, plus a 401(k) with a company match
  • Lunch & Events: Lunch stipend and quarterly team-building activities (we go big on our events)
  • Pet-friendly: There's a good chance you'll be greeted by a few wagging tails when you walk through the door
