Description

The Design Engineer at NRG Controls plays a critical role in supporting the design and execution of Building Automation System (BAS) projects. This position is responsible for creating accurate BAS designs, collaborating with the engineering team, and ensuring that all projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget. The Design Engineer will work closely with the BAS Engineering Manager and other engineers to uphold the organization's standards for quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed BAS drawings, schedules, and technical documentation in accordance with project requirements and company standards.

Collaborate with the BAS Engineering Manager and other engineers to address scope changes, modifications, and client requests while maintaining budgetary and technical goals.

Assist in troubleshooting and resolving project-related technical challenges, providing solutions that ensure project success.

Participate in material selection, ensuring all components meet technical specifications and cost-effectiveness criteria.

Review and revise as-built documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of engineering standards, including drawing packages, schedules, and parts databases.

Coordinate with project teams during release meetings to ensure seamless handoffs from Sales to Operations.

Attend operations and manpower meetings to support proactive identification and resolution of potential project issues.

Engage in knowledge sharing and team collaboration to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Stay current with emerging BAS hardware and control technologies to enhance project designs and maintain industry competitiveness.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in HVAC, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of experience in BAS or a similar engineering field preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with Microsoft Visio is a plus.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, task-driven environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including written, verbal, and in-person interactions.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
