Design Coordinator - HGA's Healthcare Team!

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Step into a role where you’ll experience the full arc of design and construction. As a Design Coordinator, you’ll help shape project development, support documentation and coordination efforts, and contribute through research, drawings, and daytoday project tasks. You’ll work with guidance from senior team members while taking initiative to learn, collaborate, and make a meaningful impact on project outcomes.

In this role you will:

Design & Documentation

  • Under supervision, develop architectural drawings including plans, sections, elevations, and details.
  • Assist in producing construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Support design presentations with renderings, diagrams, and visual materials.
  • Research materials, systems, and construction methods to inform design decisions.
  • Participate in planning and occupancy studies and contribute to layout development.

Project Coordination

  • Maintain organized project files and assist with document control.
  • Track schedules, budgets, and deliverables for assigned tasks.
  • Support code analysis, building systems coordination, and specification development.
  • Review drawings and submittals for compliance and document findings.
  • Assist with site inspections and field verification.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Participate in design team discussions and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
  • Communicate proactively with project leads to share progress and flag challenges.
  • Interact professionally with internal teams and external consultants.
  • Maintain clear records of work and decisions for future reference.

Professional Growth

  • Log AXP experience hours regularly and pursue ARE exams.
  • Seek feedback and mentorship from senior staff.
  • Take initiative in learning new tools, workflows, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 2 - 4 years of professional experience.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Interest in BIM workflows and project management tools (e.g., VantagePoint).

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $29.72/hour - $30.62/hour depending on qualifications and experience.
