Job description

The EFT Investigations team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of ACH-related transactions and resolutions. Every day will bring a variety of requests including processing settlements, handling disputes, investigating and resolving client inquiries. As the Operations Specialist, you will work closely with both external clients and internal teams on ACH-related items and serving as a trusted problem-solver who can pivot quickly when priorities shift. Your keen attention to detail will help safeguard transaction accuracy, maintain precise records, and ensure compliance with regulatory and operational standards. You will be the eyes and ears for leadership, keeping them informed of emerging issues, trends, and potential risks. In this role, adaptability, clear communication, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service will be key to your success. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives assigned by Bank Operations leadership. This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) at the UMB Technology & Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO. The work schedule is 9:30 – 6:00 PM. However, the work schedule during the initial training period (approximately 30-60 days) is 8:30 – 5:00 PM.

How you will spend your time:
  • Manage a shared inbox to ensure timely and accurate handling of incoming communications, coordinating with relevant teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Investigate ACH-related disputes and communicate outcomes to applicable parties.
  • Process Treasury reclamations by reviewing documentation, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and following established procedures.
  • Investigate payment issues involving ACH and instant payment systems, identify root causes, document findings, and work with appropriate groups to resolve inquiries.
  • Process ACH returns for internal and external partners.
  • Handle incoming calls regarding ACH related matters.

  • At least 5 years of experience in banking or financial processing.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills allowing to perform job functions with numerous interruptions.
  • Solid technical aptitude to quickly learn company systems, platforms, and products.
  • Knowledge of risk types and ability to mitigate independently or elevate appropriately.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Successfully recognize errors, issues, special requests, or inconsistencies in daily operations to solve or escalat to appropriate associate or manager.
  • Utilize your technical aptitude allowing for learning of company systems, platforms, and products quickly.
Bonus Points if you have:
  • Understand processes end-to-end and cross-functional work with other operational units.
  • Familiarity with one or more specific bank operations functions, including but not limited to ACH, Wires, Deposit Operations.

Compensation Range: $51,291 - $75,460 The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB's good faith and reasonable estimate based on its budget and what it expects to be the starting pay for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
