Job description

Dental Radiology Instructor

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

A Licensed Radiologic Technologist certification. Current CPR certification. Three (3) years of full-time healthcare experience. One (1) year of radiological experience (educational training and internships may be considered).

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Certification in Computed Tomography. Bi-lingual in Spanish.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Oral Maxillofacial Radiology program of the SBU Dental Care Center (DCC) is seeking to hire a Dental Radiology Instructor. The incumbent will support equipment operation, instruction in equipment operation and provide technical support to the DCC. The Dental Radiology Instructor will also be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the School of Dental Medicine. They will interact with DCC faculty, staff, students/residents, patients and medical professionals from outside offices.

Duties:

  • Provide protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Practice sterile techniques. Prevent cross-contamination. Administer quality control tests. Assist in performing first aid as necessary.

  • Teach dental students, residents, dental assisting students and ancillary personnel in specialty. This includes instruction in maxillofacial cone-beam CT (CBCT), extraoral and intraoral dental radiographs under the direction of the Director of Diagnostic Imaging.

  • Teach dental students, radiology residents or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of imaging equipment, in accordance with the guidelines and teaching objectives of the department.

  • Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Clinical Operations and Director of Diagnostic Imaging, participate/conduct research in required specialty. Participate in related committees such as Radiation Safety. Monitor Radiology templates, appointment book, imaging procedures, schedule patient appointments, and record procedure codes.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
