Job description

Our client is looking to fill the role of Freelance Denim Designer. This is an opportunity for a Freelance Women's Denim Designer with strong expertise in denim design, product development, and wash execution. This role will support the Denim Design Lead across seasonal development, wash management, PLM execution, and cross-functional product development from concept through proto.

  • Location: New York City (3 days in office; work from home on Mondays and Fridays)
  • Duration: At least 6 months
  • Pay Rate: $43.00/hour

Responsibilities:
  • Update sketches, BOMs, and product information in Centric PLM.
  • Organize and prepare wash samples for review, including documenting wash comments and supporting wash development.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating Miro boards, Visulon boards, and digital assortment boards.
  • Organize and track proto samples throughout the development process.
  • Support seasonal design development by ensuring accurate documentation, sample tracking, and cross-functional communication.
  • Maintain organized product, wash, and sample libraries to support design reviews and key milestones.
  • Participate in proto reviews, fit sessions, wash reviews, and milestone meetings, documenting feedback and managing revisions.
  • Participate in development and post-proto meetings to ensure feedback is clearly documented, communicated, and actioned across teams.
  • Ensure alignment on key calendar milestones and proactively resolve potential delays.
  • Prepare and present compelling design boards and product reviews to the Design Lead and cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications:
Experience
  • 4+ years of apparel design-related experience.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in Fashion Design.
Skills
  • Strong understanding of denim construction, garment washes, and wash development.
  • Hands-on experience with Centric PLM (required).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Miro.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
