Inventory Planner Department: Supply Chain Employment Type: Full Time Location: Columbia, Missouri Description The Inventory Planner / Buyer is responsible for managing item inventory with a sense of urgency and focus in order to meet or exceed customers' expectations while keeping the inventory volume of slower-turning / less profitable inventory categories/items lean. The actions of the Inventory Planner / Buyer as it pertains to managing inventory and vendor relations, reducing expenses, and increasing profit margins, are actions vital to our continued growth and profitability. The Inventory Planner / Buyer will provide support to stakeholders via daily tasks and projects and contributions to personal and departmental goals. Personal goal attainment toward employee development and growth within the organization will be crucial. Requirements for success: โ€ข Monitor purchasing requirements and manage inventory levels โ€ข Analyze inventory needs and urgency to determine the best way to fulfill requirements โ€ข Assist in setting replenishment parameters and influencing order levels for stockable inventory โ€ข Create advance buys and scheduled deliveries based on demand history and growth expectations โ€ข Communicate with purchasing team and leadership on any new developments in sales and vendors โ€ข Create and send purchase orders to vendors โ€ข Communicate and resolve issues in shipping, pricing or quantity โ€ข Compile and send POS and consignment reports โ€ข Liason between internal and external customers to resolve issues โ€ข Evaluate, clarify, and act on customer forecast information Ideal candidate qualities include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 3 years of work experience in a Buyer or Planning role (or in a similar capacity).
  • Experience using ERP systems with forecasting/demand planning capabilities.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive improvement with an assigned set of suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
