What are Delivery Robot Pilots?

Delivery Robot Pilots are professionals responsible for operating, monitoring, and sometimes troubleshooting autonomous delivery robots. They may remotely control robots during complex situations, ensure timely deliveries, and handle customer interactions or technical issues. Their role often involves using specialized software to track robot status, intervene when needed, and maintain a smooth delivery experience. Delivery Robot Pilots play a crucial part in the efficient operation of last-mile delivery services using robotics.

What are some common challenges faced by Delivery Robot Pilots during remote operations, and how are they addressed?

Delivery Robot Pilots often encounter challenges such as navigating unpredictable urban environments, dealing with unexpected obstacles, and maintaining consistent communication with the robot. To address these issues, pilots receive thorough training on remote operation systems and troubleshooting protocols. They also collaborate closely with technical support teams and use real-time data analytics to monitor the robot's status, ensuring smooth delivery operations and quick responses to any incidents.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Delivery Robot Pilot, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Delivery Robot Pilot, you need strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and familiarity with navigation or robotics systems, often supported by a background in logistics or technology. Experience with fleet management software, remote monitoring platforms, and possibly certifications in robotics or IT are typically valued. Excellent communication, quick decision-making, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for managing unexpected situations and coordinating with support teams. These skills and qualities ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of delivery robots in dynamic real-world environments.

Job Description:

Insight Global is looking for Robot Pilots to join one of the fastest growing Humanoid Robotics companies in the Bay Area. This is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets.

As a Humanoid Robot Pilot, you'll have the unique opportunity to work directly with our learning humanoid robots and teach them new behaviors and skills. You will be at the forefront of our operations, collecting new data to train our AI systems and working with the AI team to refine behaviors over time.

This is a full-time 6 month fixed-term position, paid hourly. It's a strong entry point into robotics: high-performing Pilots have opportunities to grow into Senior Pilots and other lead positions as they become available.

This role requires flexibility to work across varying shifts, including nights. Travel is also required and may vary in length, from short day trips to offsite stays of up to one month.

Responsibilities:

  • Wear teleoperation equipment and guide the robot through designated behaviors
  • Upload collected data to our AI training system
  • Proactively identify issues during collection and report feedback daily to team
  • Maintain a safe environment for both yourself and the robot during teleoperation
  • Follow proper equipment and robot maintenance procedures, including bring-up and shutdown
