Job description

Collections & Recovery Management
  • Oversee all delinquency, workout, and recovery activities to minimize financial losses across consumer and negativedeposit accounts.
  • Manage highlevel or complex delinquent accounts, troubled debt restructurings (TDRs), workouts, and modifications.
  • Interface directly with thirdparty partners including repossession agencies, attorneys, and collection agencies, and oversee small claims court actions.
  • Manage records for chargeoffs, bankruptcies, repossessions, and recovered collections.
  • Monitor and resolve negative deposit balances resulting from courtesy pay, debit card overdrafts, ATM exceptions, and returned check items.
  • Prepare and present monthly management and delinquency reporting by the specified monthly deadlines.
  • Loan Servicing & Administration
  • Provide management oversight to loan servicing processes to ensure perfected titles and liens across all collateralized consumer loans.
  • Oversee insurance tracking (GAP, Debt Protection, CPI), escrow processing, loan modifications, and payoff processing.
  • Stay abreast of internal lending reviews, audit findings, and quality control reports to correct loan servicing documentation exceptions promptly.
  • Analyze loan operational data to identify systemic trends or policy gaps that may impact delinquency or loan quality.
  • Risk Mitigation, Compliance & Operations

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and ensure team compliance with regulatory standards, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), OFAC, and truthinlending rules.
  • Investigate and manage recovery processes for losses stemming from account fraud, check kiting, or identity theft.
  • Serve as a key escalation contact for member complaints and inquiries related to loan servicing and collection efforts.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and audit teams to implement recommendations from regulatory exams and internal audits.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit union/financial institution collections, loan servicing, or loss prevention, with at least 2 years in a direct supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in core credit union processing systems, collections management software, and MS Office Suite.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep operational understanding of credit union loan policies, FDCPA, BSA/AML, Bankruptcy codes, and titling/lien perfection requirements.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and analytical problemsolving abilities.
  • Requirements: Must be bondable, pass a background check with no felony convictions, and maintain regular, predictable attendance
