Job description

Job Summary:

Harbinger Motors is a VC funded early-stage electric vehicle startup based in Garden Grove, California focused on bringing electric stripped chassis to high volume production. The position being filled is located at the Harbinger Processing Center (HPC) in Sturgis, Michigan.

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter, organized Delivery Operations Manager to oversee Step Van distribution to the end customer as well as stripped-chassis deliveries to upfitters. It is critical that both the Step Van and the Stripped-Chassis are delivered to their respective location in the correct configuration, on time, and with the correct documentation. In this role, you will work closely with the Sales and Upfitting Team, Production team, Quality Team, and Logistics team to ensure the previously mentioned deliveries are upheld. The role offers the opportunity to build valuable experience at a fast paced, high growth startup during a critical early product development stage.

The mission of this role is to ensure cross-functional alignment and coordination across all stakeholders to drive on-time, quality deliveries. Equally important is the ability to anticipate risks, identify potential issues early, and communicate them effectively to enable timely mitigation and prevent significant operational disruptions.

Job Responsibilities:

Prioritization: Work with Master Scheduler to ensure:

  2. Chassis priorities are accurate and clearly communicated to the HPC team to ensure on time deliveries to the upfitters. Prioritization is processed by Upfitter build start date.
  3. Generate a weekly report comparing What was Supposed to Ship vs. What was Actually Shipped.

Pilot Rework Alignment: Pilot rework activities must be executed at both the chassis and step-van levels. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that:

  1. Required parts and materials are available to support all planned rework activities.
  2. Quality systems accurately document, track, and verify completion of all rework actions.
  3. Engineering is engaged when rework cannot be completed as specified, and appropriate deviations or alternative dispositions are evaluated, documented, and approved.
  4. Oversee inventory control to ensure Service Parts are allocated correctly (consumed on the designated VIN).

Quality Assurance: Ensure all chassis and step-van are delivered in accordance with customer requirements:

  1. Individual must become an expert on product configurations to ensure step vans and chassis are delivered to the correct specification.
  2. Confirm all paperwork and inspection checklists are in place before a step van is delivered to a customer or dealer.
Required Skills:
  • Five years+ experience in project or program management.
  • A background in automotive is a plus with a basic understanding of medium duty commercial trucks.
  • Eagerness to learn electrification of an automotive stripped chassis.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively extract information from the cross functional team: sales, production, quality and logistics team.
  • Fosters accountability across the cross functional team.
  • High attention to detail for establishing strict document control protocols.
  • Computer savvy with a proficiency in Google Workspace, including Google Docs and Google Sheets.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain J-1/F-1 visa
