About This Role

We're looking for a reliable and adaptable Substitute Teacher to fill in for our daycare classrooms when needed. As a key support staff, the ideal candidate will help maintain a secure, supportive, and engaging environment for young children, ensuring daily routines and activities run smoothly in the absence of the regular teacher. This role requires supervising children, assisting with age-appropriate learning activities, supporting social and emotional development, and following established lesson plans and center policies. Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for early childhood care are essential.


What You'll Do
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Maintain daily classroom routines, schedules, and behavior expectations.
  • Implement lesson plans and activities provided by the lead teacher or director.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate educational, play, and creative activities.
  • Assist with meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, and nap time as needed.
  • Monitor and support children’s social, emotional, and developmental needs.
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with daycare staff regarding classroom needs or concerns.
  • Follow all center policies, state regulations, and health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

Requirements
  • At least 2 credits or one noncredit, department-approved course in early childhood education before completing 240 cumulative hours of work as a substitute.
  • Is at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves
  • Experience as a lead teacher in a daycare.
  • Associates degree or higher education.
