Job description

Be part of something new! NCSS is excited to launch Daybreak, an innovative short-term Day-Stabilization Program designed to support children and adolescents experiencing increased emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
Daybreak provides a structured, supportive alternative for youth who are experiencing significant escalation and need additional support to regain stability, strengthen coping skills, and safely return to their daily routines. The Daybreak Support Specialist plays a critical role in helping create a calm, predictable, and therapeutic environment where youth can feel supported while working through challenging moments.
The Daybreak Support Specialist provides direct, hands-on support to youth accessing the program, assisting with emotional and behavioral regulation, de-escalation, engagement in programming, and skill development. Through trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches, this role helps youth identify triggers, practice coping strategies, build self-regulation skills, and experience success during periods of increased need.
Working collaboratively with clinical and program staff, the Daybreak Support Specialist helps implement individualized supports, maintain a safe and structured program environment, and assist youth in participating in therapeutic and skill-building activities throughout the day. This position offers the unique opportunity to help shape a new service model, build meaningful relationships with youth and families, and contribute to a program focused on providing timely, community-based support to prevent further escalation and promote stabilization.
At NCSS, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes perks such as medical and dental coverage, an employer-matched retirement plan, and educational support. Additionally, for those who qualify, this position provides an opportunity for $5,000 in student loan forgiveness upon the successful completion of your 6-month introductory period. We invite you to become a valued member of our team at NCSS, a 2025 Best Places to Work in Vermont!
