Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, provides support for transportation, receiving and supply coordination, and dishwashing to the Food Service Department. Transportation duties include providing non-emergency transportation service for residents to and from events, dining venues, and appointments within the Royal Oaks campus. Receiving and supply duties include receiving deliveries, checks in orders against order sheet, unpacks and rotates stock under FIFO (first in first out) and HACCP (Hazard analysis and critical control points) guidelines. Dishwashing duties include providing residents, guests and employees with clean and sanitized utensils, plateware, glassware, flooring and equipment, which includes custodial related duties.


Brief Overview of Major Duties:

Transportation:

  • Provide shuttle transportation to residents to and from dining venues, activities and appointments within the Royal Oaks campus. May include driving in inclement weather conditions, heat, sleet, rain, etc.
  • Assist residents in and out of the vehicle.
  • Maintain radio contact with dispatcher for delivery instructions and security for any emergencies.
  • Fuel or charge and clean vehicle as needed. Responsible for vehicle inspections. Report any vehicle needs related to maintenance, servicing, and repairs to the Logistics Manager.
  • Ensure residents are secured in place and walkers are locked and secured in place, if applicable.
  • Follow all applicable traffic and vehicular safety rules and regulations.
  • Be compliant with Royal Oaks Golf Cart Policy.
  • Able to work within a time schedule with minimal supervision.


Receiving and Supply Coordination:

  • Assist with inventory and manage receipt and storage of supplies.
  • Assist in transportation of food and stock items around campus as needed and assigned by Logistics Manager.
  • Monitors expiration dates. Keeps Chef/Management informed of out of date items. Reviews production sheets and puts away stock in order of need. Pulls product for production staff as needed
  • Prevents food waste, rotates stock, and maintains appropriate inventory, First In, First Out (FIFO).
  • Verify cooler temperatures and record daily and record receiving food temperatures on receiving log.
  • Weigh and record temperatures of all meat and fish deliveries to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure that supplies are properly received, stored, and managed in compliance with food safety protocols. Assist with inventory.
  • Keeps storage areas well stocked, clean, and organized.


Dishwashing:

  • Washes plateware, glassware, silverware, pots/pans and kitchen utensils according to sanitation and cleaning procedures.
  • Ensures utensils, plateware, and glassware are sanitized and available as needed.
  • Places clean plateware, glassware, silverware and pots/pans in specified shelves according to sanitation and cleaning procedures.
  • Keeps sanitation solutions up to Maricopa County Health standards at all times and records.
  • Maintains cleanliness and maintenance of dish area. Trouble-shoots dishwasher machine malfunctions. Completes scheduled and assigned cleaning duties.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters.
  • Keeps kitchen clean by sweeping, mopping floors and emptying trash. Maintains a continuous state of cleanliness.
  • Performs work safely without causing harm or risk to self, others, or property. Ask for assistance in handling heavy item i.e., trash.
  • Performs custodial related duties required to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the food service areas by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing; including light upholstery cleaning.
  • Empties and decontaminates trash containers.
  • Clean all walls in the kitchen and grill service areas including behind the equipment.
  • Keeps chemical storage areas well stocked, clean, and organized.
  • Ability to use proper/correct dilutions of cleaning agent as instructed by the manufacturer.
  • Operates wet/dry vacuum for cleaning in the main kitchen, grill, center state and bar areas and shampoo carpeted areas.
  • Keep all floor drains clean and sanitized daily.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferably has high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Has a minimum one year of kitchen experience in proper storage, rotation of food procedures, and receiving.
  • Has a minimum of one-year comprehensive knowledge of inventory procedures (count/track/report).

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Has current, valid driverโ€™s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaksโ€™ insurance carrier.
  • Obtains a Maricopa County food handlerโ€™s card within 30 days of employment.
  • If applicable, has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains within 30 days of hire and complies with annual certification requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must carry/lift/push or pull loads of up to 50 pounds.
  • Is able to stand, walk, sit, reach, and bend.
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to weather conditions while driving residents and with some work indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Physical exertion is present due to frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking, sitting, twisting or standing for prolonged periods of time; general manual dexterity required.
  • May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
